Testimonials from year 2020 Students
I really enjoyed IDC with Camille. Camille has been conducting IDC programmes for over a decade now. Hence, his experience combined with the amicable teaching approach ensure a fun learning environment. In addition, Camille’s always happy to answer any questions and debate certain issues in diving. Would highly recommend IDC with Camille to everybody😊🙏🏻

I think I can speak for many people when I say this, but the jump from divemaster to OWSI seems extremely daunting and challenging, and I had so many unanswered questions prior to beginning the IDC. However, I was lucky enough to have Camille Lemmens as my course director with Étienne Gagnon as his right hand man (who was also amazing), and he transformed these stressful feelings into an absolutely perfect IDC experience where he answered all the questions our group could think of with his incredibly vast knowledge and experience! He also provided us with the perfect training, knowledge and experiences that would make for a 100% success rate in our instructor examinations! The best part of all was that Camille was able to inject loads of humour, entertainment and positive moments all the way through the course to make everyone feel comfortable on their way though the course!
Overall we are thoroughly impressed and grateful for everything that Camille and Étienne gave to us and I feel fully prepared to enter the world of instructing! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Camille to any diver seeking professional development in their careers, truly a wonderful course director!

You really find something about yourself and your passion, but, as I guess happens to everybody you struggle to make the right choices to make them become true, NOT THIS TIME!
I got recommended from the other side of the world to take a step forward into my IDC course and become a professional Padi Instructor recently after completing my DM training and, in a matter of seconds Mr Camille Lemmens was there to answer any questions and provide as much information as I needed. I was struggling for a week to make a decision but this day it only took me few hours to know that if I enrolled in his course I would become an Instructor in no time!
And here I am again, 2 years after my first diving experience as a PADI OWSI + Specialties and can't be more proud of myself, the knowledge shared in Camilles' course was simply fantastic and so well oriented to what we really need to know about the industry for fast progress! 10 day course and SO MANY LAUGHS you couldn't imagine, everyone had their own nickname and we were so close to each other in little time + of course we all passed.
So just wanted to say thank you a trillion times and hope life will put us back together for more fun but specially to carry own learning and absorbing your experience. Thank you Sensei!!!!!

The IDC with Camille was everything I thought it would be and more. There was a lot of laughter and good atmosphere, but also serious time when going through the important stuff. We worked hard, studied hard, had homework every night, and I wouldn't change a thing. We went over and over the things that we struggled on or that were really important, and Camille has the patience of a saint. I think I asked him three thousand questions a day, sometimes the same question in a different way, but he never batted an eyelid, just gave a good answer and reassured us that we could do it. He gave us all confidence going forward and I know that I will always appreciate the good course I received. I have a feeling I will be emailing questions in the future, because Camille is more than just a brilliant course director, he is also a mentor, and a good friend. I have never laughed so much in my life, and of course we all passed 🙂

I did my IDC with Camille in Malapascua, Philippenes at the end of November 2019.
As well as being a great teacher and barer of knowledge he is also a great laugh! Occasional days with information overload and endless presentations were made to be fun and educational engaging all 5 of us candidates and creating unforgettable bonds and memories within the group. Every question we fired at Camille he answered in great detail for us all to understand. Even during the IE he came to support us and calm any nerves or apprehensions we may have had prior to the big 2 days with the examiners!
I am very pleased to completed the course alongside all of my fellow candidates and with Camille our mentor for the duration. I cannot thank you enough for helping me open the gateway and educating me into my new career path! 😊🧜🏻♀️

It has been more than a month since my training as an Instructor has ended and now I am working as an Instructor already.
I am local, born and raised in Malapascua. I started working as a boatcrew many years back and later on became a Divemaster and work for more than 10 years.
It was really my big dream before to become an Instructor. But it’s not an easy investment so it took longer time for me to save.
And then last year around February, I first met Camille. And I had a chat with him and was really eager to start an IDC with him last November. So I decided to do the November IDC. Camille is a good, kind and respectful person. He is extremely knowledgeable and will put in, an extra time with people when needed specially me.
He gives me the best guidance and teaching, preparing me in the IDC and for that I am very thankful, because his one of the person who helped me fulfill my longtime dream. I’ve learned a lot from him which I can use it as a tool as I teach each day.
For me, he is the best Mentor, I’m so glad and thankful that I met him. A very kind Course Director who is not only serious in terms of teaching but also funny person and a good friend.
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH CAMILLE😊🙏.....
I would like also to say thanks to Justin who did his IDC STAFF, for helping me when I had difficulties.
Thank you so much also to Ann Christmas.
And thank you Threshercove owner Sir Mark Carter who is behind all my success
Balt Conje, Philippines, December 2019, Malapascua, Philippines
My interest in the ocean already was big since I was a little kid. My big dream was to become a marine biologist. Unfortunately life takes unpredictable turns and I had to burry this dream. As I got older I discovered an interest in teaching. But even this dream I had to give up. So I was "stuck" in an office for almost ten years.
At one point, I decided to turn my hobby into my new job and started my Divemaster training. As I finished my DM, I was clueless what I should do next. It was then when a good friend of mine recommended me to do my IDC with Camille at Thresher Cove.
So what at first was a compromise between my dream of working in the ocean and teaching other people, turned out to be one of my best experiences! From the first day I saw in Camille a wise mentor but also a funny friend. The combination of a good laugh and valuable knowledge let me enjoy the ten days of IDC! In my opinion I couldn't have had a better preparation to pass my IE!
Thank you so much Camille for that amazing time and all the tips and tricks you gave us on our way. Only one month working as an Instructor lets me know how much you taught us! Thank you again and I hope our ways will cross again one day!
Cheers Ruben Pereira, Mexico/Switzerland, December 2019, Malapascua, Philippines
Remember the time in school when we were suffering while learning? with Camille u wont suffer at all! from the beginning to the end it was just fun. AAAND..., I still learned a lot. there was always time for jokes n good humor, so it never got boring. I also appreciated a lot that Camille joined to the IE and supported me. it was such a good time and I will keep all his good suggestions in my mind.
Anyway thanks for nothing

Hi, my name is Johan Du Plessis. I am from South Africa, who just completed my IDC and IE in Koh Lanta, Thailand.
There are a few reasons why I did my IDC in Thailand, but I think the main reason is that I have communicated to the course director, Camille, prior on deciding where to do the IDC. From the start he was knowledgeable and gave me advise on the the course, instead of trying to sell me the course. I did my research on him and I was really amazed by his experience in not only the diving industry, but also in other fields not relating to diving.
I then made my decision to work as a dive master in a diving company affiliated to him, to gain more diving experience in preparation for the IDC. During the IDC Camille was extremely professional, as he catered for a group of students varying in age and culture, and somehow had all of us excited and looking forward to being part of this journey. His knowledge and experience that he shared throughout the course made all of the students well prepared for the IE. Due to the good preparation, the final IE was like a walk in the park, and each and every one of the students passed with exceptional scores. I would most definitely recommend Camille to anyone, whether he/she wants to start diving, do speciality courses, up to being trained as even a course director. He has vast knowledge, which has been gained through experience, dedication to the profession and passion.

So I decide to do my idc already two years back but until April 2019, I didn’t have time to do it and then it finally happened 🙃!! For the good and the bad, doing my idc with Camille at blue planet diver was a great experience and a really good fun, the team we had was perfect everyone been laughing most of the time except at the end of morning when you start to get starving and sleepy after few hours of learning, feeling like back to school haha!!
One of the funny things happened during this idc was that everyone was getting sick one by one but we finally all survived.. How we don’t know but we did!
So if you like learning fast and in a proper way, working hard for two weeks and if you like dark humour and have fun everyday then Camille is the course director that you looking for.
I’d like to also say a big thanks to Francesco who was the assistant during the idc, he was a great help, always here to answer at any question whatever if it’s a shitty one or no and even when you text him at 11pm because you are bit lost for what you have to prepare for the next day..
Well I think that’s it I said pretty much what I want to say. So if would have pay attention..(Camille favorite sentence), you will do your idc with this guy^^
Ciao for now.

I participated in the March/April IDC 2019 in Khao Lak at Sea Dragon Dive Center. The main reason why I did it there, was because I'm working in that Dive Center and I've only heard good things about Camille.
We had a pretty small course which was really nice. Because of that we had quite personal training and we were pretty quick with the schedule. So after we finished the IDC we still had a bit of time to prepare for the IE. Camille teached us everything we need to know to pass the IE. He knows what the Examinar wants to hear and what he doesn't need to hear. Camille makes a lot of jokes, which made the course really funny. That created a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
If you want a Course Director who is really experienced and teaches you everything you need to know to become an Instructor, go with Camille.
Thanks again Camille for the fun times and the instructing, see you soon again to do some specialties.
Leon Lemke, Germany, March-April 2019, Khao Lak, Thailand
I joined one of Camille's IDC in Malapascua, Philippines in February 2019. An amazing place for an IDC. This island is all about diving and one of the only places in the world where you get Thresher Sharks guaranteed.
I planned to do my IDC for a few years. Every time I found a course and a place that fit my schedule, the course was canceled or moved to a time that didn't fit into my busy life. This happened three times. Reaching out to course directors was not the easiest thing either. I got lot's of "maybes" and "I don't know" after a long time waiting and sometimes they didn't even reach back to me.
Not Camille. From our first contact, he was very endeavored to write back as fast as he could. I really did have quite a few questions. I did a cross over from CMAS and was therefore not really familiar with the PADI system. Camille answered everything to my satisfaction really fast and if he was unsure, he contacted PADI immediately. The service was excellent and convinced me to do the IDC with him.
The course itself was a pleasure. I was lucky to end up in an awesome and very international group. Camille was teaching with fun. Although he has loads of experience, he didn't seem to get tired teaching the same stuff over and over again. He was able to fit all the individual needs and found ways to make everything for everyone understandable. What I really liked about his course is that it didn't feel like studying. After a few days in the classroom and in the pool, I could see progress in knowledge and an improvement in my skills. I was amazed to see such big steps just by doing stuff and not actually sitting down and trying to remember books by heart.
Camille has a wealth of experience and he knows exactly what the examiners want to hear and what not. He is the best in preparing you for the IE. At this point, I also want to mention and thank our amazing staff instructor Lucio Bellomo who also did an amazing job in assisting Camille and answering tons of our questions.
Thank you guys for the good times! I would do it again with you!
Aaron Rösch, Austria, February 2019, Malapascua, Philippines
I did my dive master at Thresher Cove and decided to stay on and continue with my IDC. I didn’t do any research on the course director prior to.
But with my luck Camille turned out to be a great Course Director. He’s extremely knowledgeable and will put in the extra time with people when needed.
Camille teaches with a great deal of comedy, which lifts the stress level from the room.
Camille showed a lot of excitement and care during and after our IE. You could see on his face and by his reactions how much excitement he got by us all passing each section of the IE.
I hope I get the pleasure in crossing paths with Camille again in the future. Wish you all the best in the future with many more successful IDC and IE.
Also I would like to give a big shoutout to Lucio who was the staff instructor for the course. He also spent the whole time with us from day one right to the end. Gave everyone as much attention as needed and was always willing to answer questions.

If you asked me, a year ago if I wanted to try diving it would have been a loud and clear “no”.
Today almost one year later, I’m an Instructor. Hard to believe when it comes from a young woman who used to fear the ocean.
When I decided I wanted to do my IDC I was looking with my boyfriend at several different places and reviews of different course directors, - until we found Camille. My boyfriend who I did my IDC with and I looked him up and decided to contact him. After a few email correspondences, we were sure that we wanted Camille to be our course director. We even moved our IDC location so we were certain that we were going to do it with him.
Some people find the theory part of the IDC the most difficult. It always depends on how much you know already and how much you’ve prepared yourself. For me it was the mental development which I find the most important as well that was the most difficult, - but Camille really made it both changeling and exciting at the same time. He was supporting, helpful and the best teacher you can imagine, - always trying different angles to make you understand better.
Camille is not just a great teacher but he also likes to connect with each student on an individual level that makes his courses so much more real. He is a very talented course director and I really enjoyed having him as mine. He prepared us very well for the IE and with a patient and open mind figured a way of getting all of us to our goals. His always funny and smiling attitude helped getting all of us through some of the more challenging parts of the IDC. His countless experiences and stories made all the theories to a more “human connectable and understandable level” and actually made each topic interesting and important to learn, understand and appreciate.
Today I’m a Dive Instructor and already got my first job for this summer season in Europe. I’m proud of myself and Camille helped me getting where I am now.
It’s important as well to mention our great Staff Instructor Lucio Bellomo. He was absolutely amazing. An amazing instructor, - and his constantly smiling, helpful and professional mindset helped all of us to succeed our IE. He got me thinking of who I am as a person, what my strengths and my weaknesses are and how to become the best possible version of myself as a new instructor.
I will definitely keep contact with Camille and Lucio and forever be grateful for everything they taught me. They made me think of the most important thing about being an instructor, - not just by following the standards but also teach with passion and with the psychology of diving as an important aspect of teaching, - and furthermore understand how to teach the best possible way. They gave me the best guidance and teaching, - preparing me for the IDC and for that I’m very thankful. Two lovely men that I for sure will miss being around (and helping me when I have too many questions).
Once again, Thank you for the best IDC. I can only recommend choosing Camille as your Course Director.
Karen Viuff, Denmark, February 2019, Malapascua, Philippines
I worked with Camille as IDC Staff Instructor during the February IDC in Malapascua, Philippines. What first stroke me about Camille was his professionalism when we communicated via email. Without knowing me, and despite this was my first experience in staffing an IDC, he just trusted me. This attitude was of course confirmed during the IDC, when I needed just a few tweaks to proceed in complete synchrony with him with a decent load of responsibility.
At the same time, he indirectly taught me a lot. He just knew where to stress a concept and where to let a candidate make a mistake. It took him one or two days to understand exactly every candidate’s profile, including their weaknesses and their strong points. This allowed him to teach adaptively and, as it turned out, extremely successfully. To me, he was the most open and helpful, available for consulting at any moment and keen to let me interact with the candidates during the classroom hours and the practical classes. He would never keep a thing for himself.
His mastery about the PADI system is, evidently, thorough. This, together with his large experience as an Instructor first and as a Course Director later, makes him a monument of knowledge he’s constantly willing to share.
Finally, there’s a point I really appreciated about Camille. It’s again about professionalism, this time though towards the candidates. Beside being friendly and passionate, he assists them without being too serious or way too mild. He knows he’s dealing with his future colleagues, and he acts accordingly.
I hope there will be further chances to work together, Camille. It will just be a great pleasure.
Lucio Bellomo, Italy, IDCS Instructor, February 2019, Malapascua, Philippines
Anthoney Serane, Switzerland, February 2019, Malapascua, Philippines
I participated in Camille's IDC on Koh Lanta (Southern Thailand) in early Jan 2019, which is a brilliant place to do it, great waters, fantastic ocean life.
My previous life was that of a Technical Software Tester working for many companies as an independent contractor, so I did have experience of dealing with many different characters and challenges, however, Camille's IDC truly opened my eyes wider to the world of Instructing students, improving skills, improving knowledge and being part of a team of divers.
Do not mistake this course for just another certification that is easily obtained by paying money to PADI, NO, this is a course for further improvement in many areas and with Camille there is no 'can not do it'.. there is an overall sense of 'stay focused and you will do it'.
I enjoyed Camille's teaching style, mixing things up with real life examples and humour (the latter is very important for learning in my opinion).
We had a varied linguistic classroom, from English to German to French, luckily he speaks these languages and communicates clearly and with ease.
This is a step up from PADI Divemaster indeed, but that bridge was crossed with application and focus... something Camille instills right from the start. You will be tested and encouraged to improve.. this is NOT just another tick in the box, this is a life changing course not only for the good on one's self but of the many other probable students I will teach in the future.
In summary I very much highly recommend doing your IDC with Camille, wherever that may be, you will come away a better person.
Graeme Phillips, UK, January 2019, Koh Lanta, Thailand
“Summing up the IDC with Camille is like trying to roll up a sleeping bag back into its bag. There was a lot more too it than I initially anticipated!
Camille has a wealth of knowledge and experiences, which he shares throughout the course in abundance in extra hints, tips, stories and YouTube videos. These make the content easier to digest, understand and ultimately apply. Just be prepared for many questionable jokes, they are definitely necessary for the dry bits of the course, and create a relaxed, fun atmosphere for learning. It’s also pretty apparent from the moment he replies in a nano second to your emails that he’s going to be there for you, before, during and after the course, and is definitely someone who holds his students at a high priority.
The IDC wasn’t a smooth road, ear infections and a few minor hiccups, meant there were a couple of moments when I doubted whether I could do it, but Camille didn’t. In the end we were all well prepared for the instructor exam and passed with ease.
Thank you Camille :)“

Vielen Dank Camille
Juergen Selz, Deutschland, December 2018, Phuket, Thailand

Becoming a qualified scuba instructor through IDT Thailand was a fantastic experience. Camille is the ultimate professional and a great motivator - and his personal touch made logistics easy and learning fun.
Iain Groark, Scotland, October 2018, Khao Lak, Thailand
I had a great time doing my instructor development course and master scuba diver trainer prep course with Camille. Lots of wonderful suggestions on how to be a better diver and instructor. The class of 3 had plenty of laughs and still got the work done. We even finish the idc ahead of schedule so we had more time to rest before the instructor exam. If I had to do it again I would definitely go to Camille.
Nathan Smith, USA, August 2018, Moalboal, Philippines
“To say I was nervous about doing the PADI IDC would be an understatement, having been out of the water for most of the 2 years since completing my Divemaster certification back in Australia. At the start I really felt uneasy about my ability to pass the IE but fortunately I had Camille there to help guide me along the way. After just the first day of the IDC with Camille a lot of the stress started to melt away and I started to feel confident that I could make it through the IDC/IE. The IDC that Camille and Neptune Diving Adventure run is challenging but fun, situated just a few meters from the House Reef (Sardine Run) making it an ideal location to learn and dive at the same time. During my time here I was given the tools I needed to not just pass the Instructor Exam but to pass it with high scores and I have no hesitation in recommending Neptune Diving Adventure or Camille to anyone wanting to do their instructor development course.”
David Clark, Australia, August 2018, Moalboal, Philippines

Despite my quite advanced OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Diving) sickness before the IDC (33 years of diving), I finally made the decision to do this, as it was always on my mind to be an instructor one day.
I didn't put too much research into as to where and how with to do the course, but I must say, I couldn't have had a better teacher than Camille !
Honestly, Camille understands how to massage the right amount of knowledge into you in perfect dosages so you don't feel overwhelmed or bored at any time. And after the IDC, I had no doubt in my mind that the IE is not doable. Was a piece of cake with Camille's preparation.
I also came "from the dark side" with my Divemaster/Assistant Instructor level from a different organisation, so I was even a more difficult "patient"; but Camille took special care of me. I was also lucky enough to be his only student for this course; which gives you lots of time to ask questions, but also a little bit less exposure to see and learn from other students. But spending a few days for practice with Richards team, it all worked out perfectly!
Thanks again Camille for this exceptional experience !!!

A couple weeks ago, I found myself sitting in a small classroom at Sea Dragon Dive Center with a bunch of random dudes from around the world.
Guido was my buddy from whom I had first met on Lembongan almost a year ago. We signed up for this same IDC by pure coincidence, and were both stunned when we found out. I’d met Chris briefly on one of my earlier trips to Khao Lak in 2016. On the first day of the IDC, I met Holger and Nico for the first time, as well as our Course Director Camille.
Over the next few days, we spent mornings in the classroom sitting through endless power point slides, then afternoons in the pool doings skills and confined water presentations. It was tough, but I really enjoyed it. It didn’t take long before we were up to all sorts of shenanigans. We had an amazing group and I’m so happy to have gone through the IDC with these awesome people.
Camille – You are an amazing Course Director. Your enthusiasm has made learning even dry material enjoyable. Choosing to do my IDC with you is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Thank you for sending me to the hospital and staying with me for hours even though we already had such a long day and you had to travel the next day. Thank you for your care and concern. Words can’t express how much I appreciate it. I’ll see you soon.
I’m really proud of all of us. This was an amazing experience and I will miss you guys so much.

A few weeks ago I found myself doing the IDC with Camille.
The first day was a little stressful with the first exams but I knew I could do better and with a lot of practice exams and Camille's patience with showing me the formulas 20 Times, I began to understand everything better.
He is the best teacher I have had, always making jokes and making sure we didn't die of boredom through the PowerPoints. His cpr videos are very interesting. Once again thank you so much Camille for helping me get through everything.

Merci Camille, I know we'll keep in touch!
Dank u zeer, tot binnenkort!

I had the pleasure of starting 2018 under Camille’s tutelage on the beautiful island paradise of Koh Lanta, Thailand. We had a small class of three, and my two peers and I greatly benefited from having Camille all to ourselves. Our lunches were varied and delicious, but my favorite part was our time spent around the pool, and on the boat.
Camille’s years of experience allows him to direct courses with effortless ease – taking every opportunity to joke around with his students. Camille’s friendliness and positive attitude translate into his ability to convey knowledge, and I found my time in his classroom to be both enjoyable, and tremendously beneficial.
When it came time for my instructor’s exam, I felt confident and prepared. I am grateful to Camille for everything he has shown me. I know that I will be a good instructor because of him!

I did my IDC with Camille on Koh Lanta in Januari 2018, about 3 month ago from current date. I’ve been so busy doing courses and guiding since then, that I haven’t found the time to give proper feedback. But I figured it’s time.
My very first impression of Camille was that he was taking his job of creating instructors very seriously. The classroom presentations were very detailed. As expected, there was a lot of information to take in. However, everything was very well thought through. Very often, he made sure that we understood. And if we didn’t, he gladly took whatever time was needed to explain. You never felt stupid for asking questions, which I think is very important. At the same time, there was much room for jokes and laughter. The IDC was demanding, and sometimes stressful. But it never felt overwhelming. And I believe a big part of that has to do with Camille's ability to combine fun with learning. He never seemed bored with his job to teach, but rather very passionate. The IDC was very personalized; every candidate was given individual attention to whatever they needed to improve and put more effort into. In the end, the best way I can describe Camille is as a friend. He never felt like one of those boring teachers back in school who only did things by the book. Of course, we did cover the very basic parts of the course, but he also shared his own experience and put scenarios in a very living and realistic perspective. I learned that there’s not always a right or wrong in being an instructor. We always got to share our thoughts and discuss, and together come up with answers. That how I like to learn. During the Instructor examination, Camille was there to support, even if he could’ve just stayed home and relaxed after what must have been 10 really intense days for him with us candidates. That alone should give you an idea of what a great course director he his. I can’t do anything but recommend him to future IDC candidates.

Vielen Dank Christian

I recently completed and passed my IDC and IE with Camille in Moalboal. From the first moment I met Camille, I felt like he would be a good tutor and mentor as he was approachable, friendly, relaxed and had a good sense of humour. The whole structure of the course worked well and there wasn’t an overload of information at any point. Camille’s presentations were always interesting and he always included appropriate anecdotes when needed. The requirements for the practical presentations were well explained and demonstrated throughout the week. The feedback was always honest and concise as to what was not quite right. Camille was always happy to answer any questions we had, of which there were many. During the entire IDC and IE, I felt Camille provided excellent support. All in all I have never felt more prepared for an exam in my life.
Danan Truong, UK, November 2017, Moalboal, Philippines
I found Camille via the internet and after reading through his blogs and other testimonials I didn’t bother looking further.
I completed my IDC/IE at Neptune Diving Adventures in Moalboal, Philippines and was very lucky to have such a supportive team in Camille and the Neptune staff.
Camille is easy going, someone you can always have a laugh with and put up with my incessant questions - so very patient too. Camille’s course was thorough, well structured so that we never felt overwhelmed and concise. All information was presented clearly. He offered us all the support and feedback we needed. By the time the IE came around I dare say I was ‘over prepared’ and felt very confident throughout the whole examination and I can thank Camille for this!!!
Jessica Dick, Australia, November 2017, Moalboal, Philippines
I met Camille for the first time when I did my Divemaster course in the Philippines two years ago. I had a great impression of him - he was very knowledgeable and really cared about all the pupils at the diving center (regardless of whether they were IDC candidates, DMT or OW students - and I decided already because I wanted him as a course Director. I therefore went to Thailand and did my IDC with Camille in Khao Lak in November 2017. I was really not disappointed!
The IDC is, as it should, a tough course with high demands. What I appreciated most with the course was that I always felt I had Camille's (and our staff instructor Fiona's) full support. You always received honest feedback and it was very clear what was good and what you needed to develop further. They always took time for questions and you really felt they wanted to succeed. I appreciated the clear information about the requirements of IE and also how Camille, with his peace and confidence in us, made me feel that I actually had the skills required to pass the examinations.
The course was held in English which worked well for me. The idea is to work abroad in the future, so it is good to learn the words in English.
I'm very pleased with the course and then not only because I ended up being Specialty Instructor! I learned incredibly much and developed both as a diver, PADI Pro and as a person.
Sandra Pedersen, Sweden, October 2017, Khao Lak, Thailand
Hi, I'm Kristine from the US, and I did my IDC with Camille in Thailand October 2017. Camille's many years of experience made the course smooth and straightforward. From practicing skills in the pool to taking exams, we learned exactly what to expect in the IE. He always took the time to make sure we understood what we missed and improved the skills we needed to practice. But it's not all work, we had plenty of laughs. I felt prepared going into the IE and agree with Camille that it stands for "Its Easy."
Kristine Wagner, USA, October 2017, Khao Lak, Thailand

Michael Klausz, France, July 2017, Phuket, Thailand
I just recently took Camille's IDC and MSDT Prep course during July in Phuket and I can't speak highly enough about it. Camille is incredibly knowledgeable in so many areas related to diving that it makes the course fun, interesting and in my opinion the best choice to prepare you for the I.E. and for a future career in the dive industry.
Camille takes the time to make sure you understand the information completely and was able to answer any questions I had. He connects with his students and makes sure they feel confident heading into the examination. His attention to detail and teaching attitude like I said earlier makes the class that much more enjoyable and informative.
Getting to learn from one of the best only increased my confidence going forward as a dive instructor. His work with you doesn't stop once the class is over either, he is always there to help and answer any further questions you have about diving, working as an instructor or life in another country.
He knows multiple languages and although I had no problems because we both spoke English, he was able to get French materials and help my fellow classmate (who was French but could speak decent English) fully understand the material and feel confident going forward into his I.E. as well. Again I can't thank him enough for being my teacher and helping me start my own career.
If you are looking for someone to do your IDC with look no further, you've found the best.
Sean Brennan, USA, July 2017, Phuket, Thailand
"I was apprehensive at first to undertake my IDC and IE as I felt unprepared and relatively inexperienced as a Divemaster.
As I began the IDC, I found Camille's experience to be very helpful in answering all my questions. He was also extremely supportive of my fellow candidate and I through our up's and down's. Camille's knowledge and humor were thoroughly helpful as we went through many powerpoints and exams."
However, going on to the IE I felt well prepared and ready to take it on. I managed to pass with high scores and it was all thanks to Camille.
I would not hesitate to recommend Camille to other potential candidates, or to continue my diving education with him.
Thank you to Camille once again!, for making the IDC and IE the wonderful experience and memory that it was.
Adrian Chan, Hong Kong, June 2017, Phuket, Thailand
Nine months ago I did my IDC in Phuket with Camille Lemmens. I have waited until now to write a review of my experience because it was not until this past week that I completed teaching my first open water courses. I wanted to comment on my IDC through the lens of how well it prepared me for actual teaching. My situation is a bit unique in that I am not trying to launch a career as a dive instructor. I have been a high school teacher for twenty-five years and I will only be instructing courses in diving for students at my school. As an older, experienced professional educator, I thought I might have presented a unique challenge to Camille as his student. In terms of that, I wasn’t sure what to expect. However, in hindsight, I am sure I would not have found a better IDC experience anywhere!
Leading up to the IDC, Camille provided important information to help prepare for my arrival and the first day of class and answered any question I had promptly - within 24 hours – including giving a perfect suggestion for accommodations. He was friendly and personable from start to finish and did an excellent job helping his students feel confident and at ease. I really appreciated his sense of humor and I have fond memories of the regular laughter that punctuated our days together. As there is a lot of material to get through and a set way to wade through it, being rigorous but at the same time creating a student-friendly environment is a real talent of his that we appreciated throughout the course.
Camille’s knowledge and experience is far-reaching. He was able to extend ideas well beyond the curriculum and to answer any of our questions regardless of how technical. All of the extra information he provided kept the class interesting. Camille is also extremely supportive. At times he needed to demonstrate a level of patience with me that another instructor might not have exhibited. I remember the excellent coaching and encouragement he provided before the IE. He meets his students where they are in their understanding or skill level and gets them to where they need to be.
Kevin McCaughey, Hong Kong/Canada, June 2017, Phuket, Thailand
คิดว่า IDC มันยากแต่ก็อยากลองดู,ตัดสินใจเรียน,และได้ยินชื่อCamilleจากเพื่อนที่เรียนกับCamilleทุกคนพูดเหมือนกันว่า "He's One of the Best Course Director"
Yes!!!..He is One of The Best of Course Director.
I thought IDC was difficult but I decided to take it.
I heard of Camille from friends who took IDC with him. They all said the same thing, "he is one of the best CDs"
Camille dedicated his time not only during but before and after classes to make sure I understood and improved. I didn't think I would have made it but I did, thanks to Camille. 10 day IDC course with him with was a great memory and experience. And yes, he's one of the best course directors.
Cartoon Toon Kalapak, Thailand, May 2017, Phuket, Thailand
For anyone looking to do their IDC I can’t recommend Camille highly enough, his attention to detail and knowing exactly what you need to get you through the IDC as an individual and the extra time he puts into making sure you get through the IE makes it a no brainer for me, Clear, concise information and Camille’s good humour makes the whole experience less stressful, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him and I look forward to furthering my education with Camille at the earliest opportunity.

Camille´s IDC really gives you stable ground to begin your instructor career. He not only prepare you to examination but gives you tools how to rún courses in real life after graduation. I feel being lucky I choose his course. Even though there is loads work to do at IDC Camille is able make it fun and adjust methods to individuals. We had so much fun and honestly I can recommend his courses to anyone. Thank you Camille for excellent IDC!
Hannu Orrenmaa, Finland, March 2017, Phuket, Thailand
I came from Finland to do IDC in Phuket. It turned out to be a fantastic choice, because i could not imagine more efficient and fun way of becoming an open water scuba instructor than under direct supervision of Camille. He is a phenomenal instructor and awesome dude. Our class was small, days were compact and at home there was no worries with sparetime, but its okay as long as you feel as rewarded as i felt when Camille was my instructor at IDC. So perks compared to Finland: Camille, less snow and ice, quarantee of knowing your shit.
Juha-Petteri Pasma, Finland, March 2017, Phuket, Thailand
IDC With Camille was amazing! When I start the course I had very different expectations about it because I get wrong information and hazy "advices" from others about it and I start course with little bit unsure feeling. But from the first day until it was over Camille give me so clear imagine how is the work when you became to be instructor and he teach us really how to prepare lessons and how to use all the tools and be a good teacher. Now the real learning process just starting and I feel like I have stable & steadliy bottom under my feet. Feel like I'm ready to jump! Big thank you Camille!
Iris Poutanen, Finland, February 2017, Phuket, Thailand
Honestly i dont know what Camille can do better than what he is doing with our course and all the things around it. We have so much fun combine with he's super professional way to teaching. If you have questions or thinking about to do your IDC, contact him!
Robin Nyzell, Sweden, February 2017, Phuket, Thailand
Christophe Linne, Germany, February 2017, Phuket, Thailand
I decided to come to Thailand solely because of Camille and his good reputation as a Course Director. In short, he lived up to both his reputation and my expectations. This is my view of Camille and his teaching style which hopefully will help you getting an idea of what it could be to do your IDC with him:
Camille undoubtedly has the knowledge and experience to be a great Course Director. His sense of humor rubbed off in our group to the extent that I think even he thought it was a bit too much at times. His teaching style is can be described as “play hard, work hard” and his focus is always on what he thinks makes a skilled and safety conscious instructor and what he knows is needed to pass the IE. Sometimes he might come off as being strict or picky in the skills, while other times he quickly browse though the slide shows. The only “negative” in Camilles skill set would be his upselling and other ways to make a few more bucks. Something which sadly is almost required when making a living in the diving industry.
Personally, I was forced to reschedule my IDC which meant I had only one logged dive during the four years leading up to the IDC (!) and I arrived the day before the course started. Despite being rusty, jet lagged and needing time to get used to my new gear, I ended up getting straight fives in the IE and roughly 90% on the theory, all thanks to Camille! The rest of the group did just as well despite illnesses, lost gear and other mishaps. We were all very happy with the course and can strongly recommend others to do their IDC with Camille!
Staffan Eriksson, Sweden, February 2017, Phuket, Thailand
An unforgettable experience of being in part of Camille's IDC which did not only fully equipped me to be an OWSI but was also so much fun. Extremely professional, knowledgeable, patient and always ready to help, Camille made we IDC candidates all successfully passed IE. Feel so lucky to have this IDC. Lots of thanks!
'Melonie' Dan Jiang, China, February 2017, Koh Lanta, Thailand
Hi Camille, As I am waiting for my PADI certificate and my cards to arrive, I am looking back to the first day of my IDC. I was so excited yet nervous but you got us relaxed throughout the IDC and made each day enjoyable. My classmates were also great and I think we bonded very quickly :D. Completing the IDC and IE was very important for me and I have made it because of you and Ann. I learnt a lot from you and your suggestions/comments made me a better diver and soon instructor ~ Thank you again for the time and effort you put into our IDC and IE, especially all the e-mails we went back and forth even beginning of the IDC. Your quick response to all e-mails and your presence at the IE helped a lot! I look forward to seeing you again and dive with you.
Norie Ishida, Hong Kong, February 2017, Koh Lanta, Thailand
Camille is very knowledgeable about the PADI system and the dive industry in Thailand. His detailed feedback during the IDC helped us all pass the examination with ease. Additionally, he made an effort to get to know all the candidates as a friend and mentor, and gave us counseling specific to our desired paths through the diving industry. Camille genuinely cares about his work. Thanks!
Carolyn Popoli, USA, February 2017, Koh Lanta, Thailand
Camille was a wonderful course director to have for the IDC. He is very knowledgeable, but more importantly he is extremely patient and personable. During my course he made sure each candidate knew what to work on and how to work on it to prepare for their IE and life as a dive instructor. His focus was not to just get you through the IE, but to make sure you would be a confident competent instructor. He made the time educational, fun, and memorable.
Christine Dietz, USA, February 2017, Koh Lanta, Thailand
I'd like to to share a few words about my IDC course on Koh Phangan and my course director Camille Lemmens , it was quite a rollercoaster ride of emotions , at times i felt out of my depth and had thoughts of quitting , but with Camille's excellent coaching and almost endless patience, though I got the feeling we put that to the test on more than one occasion, i can honestly say if it wasn't for Camille and Giovanni as well and the IDC candidate's i wouldn't be sat here writing this as an instructor embarking on a new career doing what i love , so saying thank you doesn't really seem to be adequate enough but it will have to do. Thank you for helping me achieve this life changing opportunity.
Ian Long, UK, December 2016, Koh Phangan, Thailand
I am currently IDC Staff Instructor. Once again I want to thank you for the course, for your acknowledgment and dedication that you lavished into it. I definitely learned a lot, especially from your didactical approach, and for sure all what I received as an example from you will is becoming already useful during my work. Thanks a lot again, and best success for the continuation of your work!
Giovanni D'Erasmo, Italy, IDCS Instructor, December 2016, Koh Phangan, Thailand
The 10 days of doing my idc on Koh Phangan at Haad Yao divers with course director Camille Lemmens, was just a big roller coaster with a lot of up and downs. Some days my brain was so filled up with information and theory about diving and teaching techniques, that I thought my head was going to be a big mess at the IE. Thanks to Camille and his unbelievable endless patience after me asking the same question for the third time, and the way he positively encouraged all of us to continue, when we were deep down there and almost was giving up, I managed to to see the way out of it an went through the IE at the end. Thanks a lot for the positive way you made the idc prep. and the idc course Camille and thanks to Heike, Gio and stud mates Matt and Ian who made this possible. Had a great time and learned a lot
Lars-Petter Sandaaker, Norway, December 2016, Koh Phangan, Thailand
After having worked as a Divemaster for 3 years in various countries, I wanted to take the next step in my diving career and I decided to sign up for an Instructor Development Course. I looked online for an IDC near to me with an experienced Course Director. That's how I ended up with Camille.
His experience is unprecedented and because he reacted very fast and with lots of information during our email conversations, I immediately felt good about it. From day one of the course I knew that I had made the right decision and had an enjoyable course. There was a good balance between learning and having fun at times and despite the fact that it is a challenging course, we had plenty of fun as well! During the IDC Camille gave me the knowledge and confidence that I needed to do well during the PADI IE. I'm very grateful for everything he taught me. His vast experience made sure that all questions that I had were answered in a clear way and resulted in the fact that I'm now an OWSI and feel comfortable and ready to start teaching. For this reason I can recommend everybody to stop searching and to just book with Camille! It may look like a big mission, but with Camille as Course Director you will start the IE full of confidence and you will see that because of the hard work during the IDC, the IE will be easy! Good luck to all of your future students.
Ilse van Tilborg, Netherlands, December 2016, Phuket, Thailand
I recently completed the IDC with Camille in Kata in preparation for the IE on December 3 and 4.
Camille's preparation for the IE was extremely good and very useful for the 2 days of the IE. We went through all procedures and practices and he gave us all very good advice and guidance for what was to come.
I am very glad to have chosen to do the IDC with Camille and thank him very much for all his tutoring and guidance throughout, all in our group passed the IE and have already moved on to working as Instructors.
I would strongly recommend for anyone wanting to become an Instructor to seek out Camille and book in for the IDC, he will lead you in the right direction. Cheers.

To get certified as a PADI OWSI is the goal for all participants in an IDC. A perfect preparation and having skilled support are the most important assets to achieve successful graduation.
Camille made sure that we were perfectly prepared for the PADI IE during the IDC week and consequently we all completed the PADI IE with great results.
We were all allowed to profit from his extended experience and we could fill our personal instructor backpacks with things we can use in the future.
Due to being in a small group, Camille could take plenty of time to answer various questions.
For me personally it was a very good decision to participate in Camille's IDC program.
His open and good-humored personality made the course an unforgettable event.
I would like to take the opportunity to thank Camille and the other IDC candidates Ilse, Steven and Sam (Staff Instructor) for the great times we had on Phuket.
I hope to meet all of you soon, somewhere in the world and wish for all of Camille's future IDC candidates a lot of fun and success.
Patrick Knuchel, Switzerland, December 2016, Phuket, Thailand
I recently finished my OWSI as well as a few specialties together with Camille. A great experience! I contacted Camille months before my IDC started and he was very helpful with the entire process, from booking to accommodation and transport. Camille created a very relaxed feeling throughout the training, which led to having an easier time focusing on my studies. Going to my IE could not have been easier as Camille kept encouraging and supporting me through the entire time.
Sonja Koski, Finland, November 2016, Phuket, Thailand
Camille I have to thank you personally for all the support and giving hand to achieve this position for me ....really really thanks I can never forget this ......thanks once again ....my favourite course directorn

Hello my name is Oskari and I come from Finland. I had couple of choises where I wan't to do my IDC and I decided to do it by english, after all I'm more than happy with that I chose Camille to be my CD. Course had fast tempo and every problem we had was very (very) well explained by Camille. And after all we had really fun time together during course, so thanks for Camille, Nikoo, Tommy and Tahamtan!
Oskari Miikkulianen, Finland, October 2016, Phuket, Thailand
My name is Tommy and I choosed to travel all the way from sweden to do my IDC with Camille and after our first day I never had any doubt about making the right call.
The structure of his course made us take it step by step in a way that made all things come natural and by explaining the things that we needed to improve and especially How to improve it we overcame it in an easy, fun and relaxed manner.
Camille with his experience as both an instructor and a CD knows what he is doing so the candidates in his IDC is in good hands because Camille doesn't just want you to pass the IE, he wants you to be a great Instructor after the IE.
We had a great IDC together and i will remember the time with Camille, Nikoo, Tahamtan and Oskari with joy, Thank you!
Tommy Lind, Sweden, October 2016, Phuket, Thailand
Dear Camille i enjoy all days and all class with you, any time if i want to continue my course i will let you know i hope to see you again soon and make class with you again, it was my point to know you .all the class was useful for me in IE exam.
Tahamtan Nabi, Iran, October 2016, Phuket, Thailand
My name is Annesa and I attended the IDC with Mr. Camille Lemmens starting last month. It was a very good experience and Camille as my course director made sure that I understand and know what I am doing. He does his best to improve your confidence. I would like to thank him for his good job and I know he will always give his best anyhow.
Annesa Rath, Seychelles, August 2016, Phuket, Thailand
Fabienne Mazenauer, Switzerland, May 2016, Phuket, Thailand
I recently took my IDC with Camille in Phuket in May and cannot say enough about how much I enjoyed the course. Camille has a true passion about diving and teaching that is very apparent in his classroom presentations, pool sessions and open water workshops. His IDC was extremely thorough and prepared me well for the IE. I was quite nervous when I first started the program but with his patient coaching and mentoring I was fully confident about taking and passing the IE. The one thing that stood out to me was the emphasis he puts on both student diver and instructor safety. His course is not a check the box type of course. When you complete his IDC you will know that you have the skills, knowledge and confidence to be a fully competent PADI instructor. There is a reason he has achieved the PADI Platinum teaching certificate. Anyone interested in becoming an instructor should put him on their short list for consideration. Due to limitation in my schedule I was not able to complete the specialty training but I plan on coming back to as soon as time allows to continue my professional development with Camille.
J. Tate Abel, USA living in Saudi Arabia, May 2016, Phuket, Thailand
I chose to make me IDC with Camille Lemmens in light of his successive award as a Platinum Course Director. I was not sure about what it might represent, although I suspected that he had not stolen this prices...
Rapidly during the course I understood.
When you wish to become instructor, you invest time and especially money. Training is short and intense. It is natural to have doubts and apprehension at different levels.
But I have been very quickly reassured to have in front of me someone who knows his subject on fingertips, able to adapt to each individual and remaining just with all of us.
Lastly beyond his professional skills Camille is a person who has great human values and qualities. You'd probably be delighted to meet him.
My advices, review your theory correctly before the IDC, rest well, and let yourselves be guided, everything can only go well with Mr. Lemmens !
Sophia M'Jahad, France, April 2016, Koh Lanta, Thailand
François Fournier, France, April 2016, Koh Lanta, Thailand
I'm honored to recommend and express my person experience & the recommendation to conduct your IDC training under Camille Lemmens. He has not only granted me the states of becoming an ambassador to be an instructor under Padi brand but has granted me a role model in him, for my career in the diving industry.
I personally have worked with a few instructors. He adds so much more then only the values of the training which is delivered over the two weeks. I found him professional, knowledgeable, very passionate and accommodating to training needs of individuals' requirements in order for the training to be individualized. From my experience, I walked away from the training with allot more then only the certification values.
His role as a Course Director has been to develop me architectural maximize the knowledge and development of me in a short time frame. Camille delivers theoretical content in a practical way. I'm very impressed by his passionate, which he uses good design principles in all his projects--from arboretums to the documents provided.
The hallmark of Camille's character is his honesty. This extends from those areas where it is easily seen in relationships and business transactions, as well as in integrity of thought. He approaches any analytical task with an exacting eye that is scientific, thorough, and meticulous. This is the kind of care and concern I mean by integrity of thought.
Camille Lemmens has my unqualified professional endorsement and my deep personal respect.
Wayne Momsen, South Africa living in Saudi Arabia, April 2016, Koh Lanta, Thailand
I had been forewarned that Thailand was simply an Instructor candidate factory and that my IDC experience wouldn't be of the highest caliber. However, to my pleasant surprise, my experience with Camille Lemmens as my course director proved to be of utmost value and his dedication and commitment to his students truly showed itself during the actual examination period.
Bear in mind you will be spending up to two weeks with a course director going over countless PADI presentations so the following is very important when considering with whom you study under. Throughout the IDC, Camille was able to keep his presentations entertaining and concise. He was able to pinpoint all the important information and stress them accordingly so you leave feeling adequately prepared not only for the IE, but for your career as an instructor as well. During the pool sessions, Camille's 13 years of experience as a course director showed itself as he not only knew what was required in past IE's and how to practice accordingly, but sprinkled his own tidbits in as well from his own teaching experiences.
But Camille's dedication and commitment truly shined when the time of the IE actually came around. Looking at the other candidates and their course directors, I felt like we were the most adequately prepared and supported. During the pool sessions, Camille kept a watchful eye on our progress, not because he was nervous, but because he wanted to witness our success.
Overall, I would highly recommend any potential IE candidate to study under Camille Lemmens as their course director. If you are looking for a course director who is committed to the success of his students for both the IE and a career in diving, Camille is the guy for you.
Collin Li, USA, April 2016, Koh Lanta, Thailand
I recently completed the instructor course at Blue Planet Divers on Koh Lanta. Camille Lemmens did a great job in preparing us for the IE. The IDC was very focused on the exam, yet he always found time to tell us more how to actually live and work as a part of the diving industry. Safety is key for Camille, and he constantly stressed the importance of adhering to the PADI standards, as well as giving us advice for our future teaching, and describing real life problems and solutions. During and after the IDC and IE Camille was very approachable, he responded to messages at all (reasonable) times. He also took care to provide the teaching material in different languages, and to help students like me who don't speak English as first language. While teaching the pool lessons Camille's standards were high and his marking was strict, yet fair, which prepared us well for the exam.
But the truly remarkable thing about Camille is his strong sense of humor. All the important information about standards, safety, and exams can be awfully boring and tedious, but he managed to create a fun and relaxed learning environment. He is passionate about teaching, picks up every student where they are, and helps them overcoming their particular difficulties in a determined, but very kind way. I learn best when someone makes me laugh and keeps me thinking at the same time, and in Camille I found the perfect teacher for my IDC.
Svenja Weise, Germany, April 2016, Koh Lanta, Thailand
From March 7 to March 15, I had the great opportunity - and luck! - to join Camille's IDC on Koh Phangan as an IDC Staff candidate. After having taught diving in the lake of Zurich in Switzerland, it was for one thing very interesting to see how resorts and dive centers work with "holiday divers" in warm waters and how they solve their own logistical issues. What is the best about the course, however, is definitely the Course Director himself! Camille does a wonderful job in being a dedicated member of the diving industry and above everything he's a fantastic role model for the instructors-to-be by being strict but always adding fun to something that is in the end still somehow serious business. I will now start doing the first part of IDC courses for new instructors here in Switzerland and have quite some respect for this new challenge. For me, however, it was great to take diving education to the next level - teaching others how to teach - and nobody could have showed me better how to get about this than Camille. I'm very much looking forward to seeing him again hopefully soon.
Sandra Clavadetscher, Switzerland, PADI IDCS, March 2016, Koh Phangan, Thailand
Thank you very much for your IDC... you bring us through with nice effort, minimum stress and plenty of fun and I´m sure all of your candidates enjoy your way of teaching and because all of us passed, I take these as a great proof of your professionalism and very good way how to share your knowledge and for all of this I thank you a lot... It was great and unforgettable experience.... Take care and stay as you are...
Jan Cabalka, Czech Republic, March 2016, Koh Phangan, Thailand
It was a big luck to take my path into PADIs instructors area through the IDC with diving GURU - Camille Lemmens! I've done my course on march '16 - Haad Yao Divers - Koh Phangan.
Great time with lots of hard work and ofcourse - lots of FUN!
Camille is a great mentor with plenty of patience and propper attitude. A really experienced teacher with many life examples. Unlimited thanx to my teacher for his well done work wich provides me with all necessary knowledge, skills and idea of our mission!
Igor Tarasevich, Russia, March 2016, Koh Phangan, Thailand
In January I participated in the IDC with Camille at Blue Planet in Koh Lanta, which to me was the logical step after completing my DM with them last season.
Camille had a very professional yet fun approach, it suited me very well. After completion of the IDC Camille assured me i was ready for the IE and it turned out he was right, passing the IE was easy after 12 days of thorough preparation. My advise for people who want to start an IDC would be to work at least a few months as a DM for experience, revise the theory before the IDC starts so you can focus on what is new, and then do it with Camille, success guaranteed!!
Thank you again Camille for the great time together, I am sure we will meet again!!
Kris van den Bergh, Belgium, January 2016, Koh Lanta, Thailand
I entered the IDC in Koh Lanta, January 2016, taught by Camille Lemmens, with little anxiety for at least two reasons: one was the language (I am French and sometime having some difficulties to fully understand English) and the second fear was the fact that coming from CMAS teaching organization, I had really a very little knowledge about PADI system.
I have to say that Camille did an outstanding education effort to teach us with a lot of patience. We were a small group of four, including another French guy, a Belgium and English ones. We received from Camille full attention and he gave us, individually, plenty of time to get feedback from its huge experience, giving at each course a lot of examples from its own diving adventures.
We really did a good and serious work during these two weeks in a very friendly ambiance and I have to say that I am proud to succeed in the IDC and IE, as well as the other guys.
Thanks Camille for this experience really enjoyable; you are an excellent teacher and I learned a lot. I had also the opportunity to pass three specialties with you, and we did very exciting dives together at Hin Daeng and Koh Haa. I can tell you: see you next time, in Philippines, for other specialties. Thanks for all.
Denis Chatrefou, France, January 2016, Koh Lanta, Thailand
I entered the IDC in Moalboal, taught by Camille, with little to no expectations. From day one it was clear that this was a serious course, though there where always time for a dive story or a laugh.
We where a small group of three, giving us plenty of time to get feedback from Camille and get individual teaching if needed. The result was that we all passed the IE. I really enjoyed being scored on my performance during the IDC. This made me want to improve even further.
I found this experience really enjoyable, Camille was an excellent teacher and I learned a lot. If you're thinking about doing the IDC - Camille is the guy to contact.
Mattias Twedmark, Sweden, November 2015, Moalboal, Philippines
From the day one, the only goal is to pass the IE with a good grades. And if you are willing to work for that goal - so is Camille.
He have really good knowledge about what to teach and how to teach it. After that it's up to you how do you do.
On my IDC we had nice small group of three people. The teaching was as individual as it is possible to be. When Camille noticed that we are doing good he pushed forward on full speed. If we had hard times with something, he took the time and explained it so that everybody could understant.
He doesn't make days any longer than they need to be. But he is willing to work even afterhours if you need so.
He's not the guy that you go party with but he is definately the one that you want to do the IDC with.
And now in Finnish;
On sinusta itsestäsi kiinni kuinka pärjäät.
Juha Heinonen, Finland, November 2015, Khao Lak, Thailand
I've been participating in the November IDC in Khao Lak, with CD Camille Lemmens.
I wanted to do it in Khao Lak, because I have been diving there and would like to work there as well. I found out Camille did an IDC at the start of the season, so a good reason to go!
We were a small group of 3 students, 1 German, 1 Finnish and myself (Dutch). From the first day on we really had a good IDC, it was both very educational and fun.
Camille really knows what he is doing (and has been doing it for quite some years now).
After 2 weeks of learning and practicing, I was very confident in going into the IE. (Camille as well)
After the final exams (which we all 3 passed of course!) it was time to do some specialties, and here also the professionalism of Camille was clearly obvious.
Now I already have done 2 liveaboards, and certified my first Open Water and Advanced students.
Thanks Camille, and we will keep in touch!
Dax Janssen, Netherlands, November 2015, Khao Lak, Thailand
I took IDC from Camille in June, 2015. He's a really really good course director. His course was much better, more practical, and more informative than I'd ever expected. I had good friends as well in the classroom. That was fun. I wish I could do it again, but I could've not failed with this great CD.
Ryuta Yagi, Japan, June 2015, Koh Samui, Thailand
I recently successfully completed the June PADI IDC by Course Director Camille Lemmens, this has been the culmination of many months of work and preparation, and I would like to take the opportunity to thank Camille for his excellent course and the support and direction he has provided during our time together.
I actually took some time in researching the Course director whom I felt would be a good fit for my requirements, and I'm happy to say that I reached the right conclusion, As I had completed my Divemaster in 2006 and done very little diving in the 8 years since I was anxious in how rusty my skills and knowledge were in becoming a PADI Instructor, and having decided to talk things through with Camille before I knew it I was on the path towards Instructor.
Camille worked out a tailored IDC preparation schedule for me and quickly got me up to IDC level on my skills, a perfectly balanced approach as I scored 5s in all my skills on the final PADI IE.
The IDC with Camille In Samui in Thailand in June was a breeze, all very comfortable and I could not have asked for a better course, a small group of 5 who all quickly came together as a team to help each other through the course, and happily all passed very successfully, (Thanks Guys).
I along with one of the other IDC Candidates completed a number of Instructor Specialities with Camille after the successful completion of our Instructor Examination and he gave us huge amounts of useful advice and techniques for future courses and specialities, and would highly recommend doing the Sidemount Instructor and Deep Instructor specialities.
Having started 6 months ago feeling too old and too rusty somehow with Camilles help I'm now a PADI Scuba Instructor with tons of Specialities, Thanks again for your dedication and support and sharing your vast experience with us.
Simon Gurney, UK, June 2015, Koh Samui, Thailand
Willem Gladisch, Germany, June 2015, Koh Samui, Thailand
Twijfel dus niet langer and become PADI OPEN WATER SCUBA INSTRUCTOR with CAMILLE!

After hearing good things about Camille from his previous students i decided to do my idc with him in the Philippines. From the get go it was clear i had made the right choice, he helped with organizing and understanding the aspects of the idc. Once the classroom work started he was just as helpful. Having a small class was great and allowed lots of attention where and when i needed it. I highly recommend Camille to anyone thinking of attempting their idc, he provides a great learning environment that is fun, relaxed and very knowledgeable.

Insoweit: Weiter so. Und hoffentlich wieder einfachere Idc-Kandidaten

I am a Padi dive instructor !
Unbelievable but true - I am looking at my Padi instructor award and I just certified my first two Open Water students. It makes me feel incredibly happy even though it took me five (!) days to finish my first course as an instructor. Especially one student who was seriously scared at the beginning said that I have given him so much more than this certification since he almost drowned as a kid. It was an emotional course with an overwhelming happy ending.
Thanks to Camille Lemmens I have something that is much more than just a certification for me as well. I can't wait to certify more people and to extend my carrier in the diving industry. Camille is not only preparing you to pass the IDC and IE, he tells you how to actually live and work as a part of the diving industry. He told us so many things about how to keep our students as well as ourselves safe in every concern. So many of my written notes from the IDC became of high value during the first courses I gave.
As a person I got to know Camille as a duly responsible and still easy going, funny and flexible guy. Before and after the IDC and IE the email responses of Camille were super fast and patient at all times. The IDC as such is a hard piece of work but all of that is possible to manage with Camille's support. He even managed to provide course materials in different languages for those understanding English not so well. Ann, our staff instructor did a fabulous job. She gave us support and helped us wherever she could. She is super enthusiastic and motivating. I hope to see her again next season to work together maybe. Once I passed the IE straight away i got job offers at our region in Khao Lak in Thailand where I was working as a Divemaster for two seasons already. I feel the difference of employ-ability as an OWSI so it´s definitely worth it to become a Padi instructor.
In total Camille exceeded my expectations and I can strongly recommend him as a person and as a Course Director.
Thank you Camille for a great course with a successful outcome.
Andi O, Germany, April 2015, Khao Lak, Thailand
Doing my IDC with Camille of IDC Thailand in Khao Lak from March 29th to 07th of April, 2015 was an interesting experience, to say the least.
One could sense that Camille is exceptionally experienced in his domain. His teaching style combines the care of a father with the toughness, and sometimes impatience of a drill sergeant. Our course was cut by a day, adding pressure to the already compressed time schedule. Generally I felt that the course ought to have another day or two, to allow the students to reflect and at times even relax a bit. Camille's standards are high and his marking strict, yet fair.
Camille's job was to teach us and to ensure that each of us can live up to our potential and his expectations; and to produce properly qualified and not just average PADI instructors. I sincerely believe he succeeded in achieving this and after having spent 10 days with Camille we found ourselves fairly relaxed during the IE.
In conclusion I found the IDC with Camille to be an exciting, extremely valuable and refreshing experience. I did learn a lot and I met a bunch of great people too. And I am glad I did my IDC with Camille; a true coach.
Andreas Guttensohn, Singapore, April 2015, Khao Lak, Thailand
I did my IDC with Camille in April 2015 in the wonderful town of Khao Lak in Thailand. If I had known before what an IDC would be like, I think I might never have done it!
We all arrived prepared really well since he sent us an email well before the start and included all the prerequisites.
An IDC is not for the faint of heart. It's hard work, but in the end it's all worth it. I was tired, but all happy when I had my certificate in my hands.
Camille makes you practise, practise, practise in the pool until your hair turns green (literally... happened to me!). He will do anything to make sure you pass your Instructor Exam and for this I can really recommend him. Even after hours he will be there for you if you have questions. You can tell he is very experienced since he knows EVERYTHING when it comes to standards and he gave us loads of advice for the future and real life situations.
Afterwards, he gave us all the pictures he took during the course and I still love looking back at them. It really was a funny time as well. I also loved how everyone was supporting each other.
So now I have already certified 7 students and I'm proud of all of them. Not sure if it was me or them, but so far I have had fantastic students and I love the fact that during the course you grow together and become friends with your students. I'm so glad I did the course with Camille and still today, months after the IDC, he is answering all of my questions that I have (especially standards!). I couldn't have asked for a better course director. And yes, by the end of the course you will have gotten used to his humor!

Written in January 2017;
Nearly Two years ago is when I started my IDC with you in Khao Lak, an experience that I will never forget. And now, after acing my IE in a slate quarry, Dry Suit equipped, in near freezing conditions, you were still there for me, to mentor me and give me the confidence I needed to succeed after not completing my IE in 2015. Now you might wonder why I chose to write this testimonial to you now. the truth behind this is, I wanted to write something that would have time behind it, experience in the field as an instructor, so that I might be able to look back with clarity and truly appreciate all you had done for me. To this day your voice rings clearly in my head whenever a student has a question, a concern, or tells me wide-eyed about a new fish they have seen or about their fears of the open ocean being conquered. Every time I teach I think of how you taught me, with patience, guidence and good humor in full swing. You've been my inspiration as an instructor, and no matter where I go I will always take that inspiration with me, so that I might inspire others to follow the same path, and to pursue their passion for diving to the fullest, as you have helped me to do so. Thank you so much, you truly are an inspiration. See you down there matey. Cheers

Christophe Koziel, Belgium, March 2015, Moalboal, Philippines
I took an IDC with Camille Lemmens at Neptune Diving Adventure, after which I said I would write a recommendation. So, while this holds a small apology to Camille for taking so long, it also comes with much more meaning.
Since the IDC I have now taught many OW courses, even more AOW course, and a few rescue and DM courses. The information and knowledge passed on by Camille and Johan not only made Passing the IE achievable, but also has played a big part in the way I have handled my own students.
The best way to show my level of respect for the skills and professionalism that I experienced during my IDC is to send my Dive Masters to Camille. That is what I am doing at the end of Nov.
Hopefully, I will continue to send Camille Instructor candidates. With Camille I can be sure they will get the best instruction and many tips which will help them throughout their career. Just as I was aided.
Thanks Camille for the great time and thanks even more for the tough parts of the course, it has made teaching easier.

I had decided to do the PADI IDC in Phuket Thailand some time ago. My bags were packed and I was going to leave my home in Maine for the airport in about 18 hours when my father-in-law passed away. I emailed Camille about my situation and got a prompt response firstly expressing sympathy and then trying to be as creative as possible with developing a solution that would allow me to attend the funeral 3 days hence and still allow me to complete the IDC. We worked it out that by doing the eLearning portion back in the States and compressing the in-country IDC days to 9, we had a fighting chance of covering all the material adequately. In the end, I arrived just hours before the last possible moment to start the class. Camille adapted and compressed things such that not only I, but the other two instructor candidates in the class were successful in both the IDC and the IE.
My friend with whom I was taking the class were NAUI Divemasters coming into the class, so we had to confront not only the compressed schedule but the additional task of converting to PADI methodology and standards. This took extra time and patience on Camille's part, and I doubt that another IDC course director would have gone that extra mile for us.
In terms of the actual preparation we received for the IE through Camille's instruction, it was superb. I feel that Camille was fairly tough on us with his grading during the IDC, but that made it more relaxed for us during the actual IE, where with the additional stress of the high-pressure context, it is easy to perform below your top level. I think we never would have passed the IE without Camille's holding us to high standards during the IDC.
Finally, you are under considerable pressure while undergoing the IDC, and the first thing on your mind is not to be recording this memorable experience in photos - you are focusing on passing the IE. However, it *is* a memorable experience - every step of it, and we were delighted that Camille kept good track of our in-water and out-of-water activities. I am so happy that I now have these photos of our experience as souvenirs, thanks to Camille's thoughtfulness.
Paul Göransson, USA, February 2015, Phuket, Thailand
I recently completed an IDC with Camille.
What was unusual is that I was a cross-over student, and had limited to no experience with PADI. In addition, I have never worked professionally as a Dive Master. I wanted to attain the PADI Dive Instructor certification for "fun".
Camille saw to it that I was very well prepared for the IE. I scored an average of about 90% on all of my written exams, a 4.8/5.0 on my presentation, near perfect scores on my skills circuit, 9+/10 on my confined water presentations, and 8.6/10.0 on my open water presentations. I did a great rescue thanks to Camille's having me practice each day.
Due a death in my friend's family, our IDC was slightly more compressed than usual. Plus, I completed numerous specialty courses. Without Camille's experience and knowledge, my success likely would not have been possible. I can highly recommend Camille, as an IDC instructor. If the opportunity arises, I would take additional specialty courses with Camille.

After 12 days, I completed my PADI IDC at Blue Planet Divers and the Course Director was Camille Lemmens. Really intensive work during the IDC and professional preparation for the IE which I passed easy. I like to enjoy every moment of my life, so if you want to combine professional work with a lot of fun then Camille Lemmens is the best. Thank you very much Camille for the great time we had during the IDC. Keep going your great job.

It was a really good time that I spend for the IDC with Camille Lemmens ! If you want a good Course Director, he will help you to pass it easy, he knows his job, he's the man ! ; ) 10 days of fun and good work ! Thx Camille !!!

After 12 days of preparation during the IDC, I manage to get through the IE and my MSDT after. This success wouldn't be possible if not because of Camille and his staff Johan in Neptune Diving Adventure. During those days of IDC I was well prepared especially with the areas that I was weak. He gave me pointers that really points and was very specific and detailed on all the areas that I need to cover which made it easy in the IE. Upon my MSDT I got plenty of ideas on how to make courses more exciting which I know is a very good tool in this industry. My biggest thanks to Camille and his staff Johan also for the people in Neptune Diving Adventure who had been very helpful to me in so many ways. And also to my Co-IDC/IE candidates who did it well during the IDC/IE. I wish you all good health more blessings and more IDC to come. Cheers,

I have recently completed my IE after 12 days of preparation on the IDC with Camille Lemmens at Sea Dragon dive centre in Khao Lak, Thailand.
I managed to pass with high grades during the examination process and this is completely down to Camille and his staff instructors preparation. Well done to the other guys on the IDC/IE, I have made some new friends who I look forward to 'working' with soon.
Camille is a great guy with a ton of experience and I would recommend him to anyone looking to become a PADI Instructor as they would be hard pushed to find better.
I look forward to the journey on my chosen path and know that I have Camille and PADI in support, if I need them.
Kind regards to you and your family Camille.
I look forward to our paths crossing soon.
John Roberts, Great Britain, November 2014, Khao Lak, Thailand
Camille is an incredible Course Director and I'm so delighted to have done the IDC with him. He ran the course really professionally, and made sure that we all had plenty of time to practice and really get to grips with the exercises - which were not always easy.
I was really nervous starting the IDC as there was an awful lot of information to take onboard in a relatively short amount of time. Camille did a fantastic job of increasing my confidence and ensured that I felt fully prepared by the time we took the IE. Thank you Camille, I couldn't have done it without you - you're a true pillar of the diving community!
Lucinda Roberts, Great Britain, November 2014, Khao Lak, Thailand
I have completed the instructor development course with Camille last November in Khao Lak, Thailand.
The course was extremely well directed by Camille and we had loads of fun during the two weeks leading to the final instructor examination.
Camille did not only teach us how to conduct PADI courses in a fun and professional way, but has also put a lot of focus on safety and has proven excellent knowledge in emergency response due to his experience working with the decompression chamber in Kho Samui. Passing on many wise lessons for live he has emphasized on how important it is to always cover our assets...
With 2 staff instructors, the course put a high focus on supporting each candidate individually so that everyone could follow his individual pace.
Thanks a lot Camille for this excellent experience and entry into the professional world of teaching diving! All the best!
Roman Gubler, Switzerland, November 2014, Khao Lak, Thailand
I recently did my IDC and a half dozen specialty instructor ratings with Camille Lemmens at Oceans 5 in Gili Air, Lombok, Indonesia, and it had to have been one of the best courses I've taken in a long time! I'd recently quit my job as an engineer and had decided to teach diving for a while, and found Camille through his excellent website - I found him to be professional and timely in all our correspondence and the level was maintained throughout our course! He was attentive to the needs of the entire class while keeping the pace moving, and did an excellent job preparing the five of us for our instructor exam and our first certifications! I'd highly recommend Camille for anybody looking for a top-notch Course Director as he has the whole package of experience, knowledge, and attitude, and passes it on wholeheartedly to his students. All the best and GO SCUBA!
Tom Taylor, USA, August 2014, Gili Air, Indonesia
As a one-day-old brand new Divemaster I started the IDC with the least experience of our group and so in the beginning my biggest worry was that I would simply not be good enough to eventually pass the IE. After the first introductory presentation Camille had already managed to take this worry away - this man knew what he was doing and I trusted him to teach us well. This feeling could not have been more true; after ten intensive days of work in progress Camille did not only make sure that we were all prepared to pass, he had given us the confidence to pass with flying colors and to even have some fun while doing that.
I think Camille is a great course director, because apart from being a very kind and funny guy, he has all the right qualities a good teacher should have. He is very strong content wise - you can tell he has tons of experience and he is very knowledgeable - and in the delivery of this content. Even with our relatively big class with all very different study- and language backgrounds, Camille was able to keep things interesting, engaging and fun. His determination to make sure everybody comprehended everything, no matter how much extra time he had to spend with students outside class hours, showed genuine dedication and was very encouraging for me. For these, and many more reasons I would highly recommend Camille as an IDC course director.
IE stands for 'It's Easy' Camille joked during the first presentation of the IDC. And indeed it IS easy - if only you've been prepared by a course director like Camille Lemmens.
Camille, thank you!
Floske Hartman, Netherlands, August 2014, Gili Air, Indonesia
First of all, thank you very much for being my Course Director; for sharing your expertise, experience, guidance and for making our IDC really enjoyable all round. I thought you were a very approachable person; you were very willing to guide all of us and it was really amazing how many laughs we all shared during the course.
I think you had a challenging IDC - one of us did not speak English as a native language, and another was dyslexic. More than anything, I really admired how patient you were in guiding them, how encouraging you were and accommodating to their challenges and limitations. For me that was a big deal because I found myself sometimes becoming impatient whenever, during my DMT, I tried to teach student divers who were struggling or just needed extra time or attention. So for me that was one of the most important lessons I take away from your teaching.
Once again, thank you very much for all that you have done for us and I hope our paths cross again somewhere in the diving world!
Fareez Ahmad, Singapore, August 2014, Gili Air, Indonesia
Although I have no comparison, it doesn't take much to know that it doesn't get better than the IDC course I did with Camille at the end of August.
After an exhausting 10wk DM course I went into the IDC very ill. This illness carried on until about day 4 of the course BUT Camille's light-hearted, fun yet precise approach really got me through each day and he was always checking in with me that i was ok.
I am dyslexic so my attention and interpretation of information can get slightly off track, especially during presentations and theory exam perpetration but again Camille was conscious of this during his lessons to the point that he would give time out of class hours to help me understand.
The knowledge he shared with us during the course was priceless. My understanding is that ALL IDC's are tough and require a lot of energy from everyone but it really is about who is there to help you get through it and make sure it is fun and I'm really grateful that I had Camille to do exactly that.
The diving was the best part of the day (that's the reason we were all there..) as we were out of the class room and in a beautiful environment. The skills circuit, confined water and open water sessions were covered in detail and the advice and tips Camille gave us was gold dust.
If you are looking for a Course Director to be great role model who's professional, approachable and down to Earth then look no further - THANK YOU Camille
Sean Houlihan, UK, August 2014, Gili Air, Indonesia
I participated in the 2nd ever English Western PADI IDC in South Korea with Platinum course director Camille Lemmens, and we could not have asked for a better person to lead, educate and mentor us toward our goal of becoming PADI scuba instructors. His teachings and lectures shined a new and fresh light on the way we think and do scuba diving. It was a fantastic experience and an honor to be mentored by one of the best. Thank you very much for everything and as you say.............Stay wet
Carel Aucamp, South Africa, August 2014, Osan, South Korea
My parents have a scuba diving business so naturally I was slowly becoming a professional level PADI diver. When I was first notified that I was doing IDC this summer in Korea, I felt like I was behind and rushed. However, Camille Lemmens was a great IDC course director who made sure that I was able to pass. He was a great mentor, coach and a leader for me to learn and acquire all the skills necessary to pass the IE. Thank you for being patient with me (especially in the mornings). Sincerely, Lisa Rivera

I am a professional instructor by trade and I have been involved in training personnel for well over 16 years now, so I understand what it takes to be excellent within this profession; it takes someone like Camille Lemmens. I took the time to research Course Directors and listen to past students before I decided on Camille and the decision paid off greatly. Camille has a superb understanding of people and constantly tailors his instruction to each individual. His implementation of multiple techniques ensures that each instructor candidate will have the best possibility of not just passing the Instructor Examination but excelling at it and walking away with a solid understanding of what it means to be a PADI instructor. Camille has a level of patience and kindness that puts students at ease, which in the case of an IDC is critical; his attitude and charisma make students push themselves harder and expect more of themselves.
I was expecting another semi-challenging course that was "easy"; what I got was so much more and well worth the money spent. Camille tailored our IDC to our group level (we were all AI's at the start of the IDC). Because of this we were able to have specific discussions on cases that we have either run across our selves or simply needed clarification on. Having a custom course was also extremely beneficial because Camille was responsible to not only teach one of the many IDC's that he does but now he had to teach the new PADI Open Water course. Because of his dedication to providing the most correct information he would constantly be verifying standards and cross-checking information between old and new courses. As instructor candidates we saw this as true dedication, he was setting the standard for what we should be as instructors. In everything that Camille did he set the standard, if we did not perform perfect we did not get high marks. By not just handing out high marks this made each of us strive for better performance, and in the end it paid off. During my IDC all instructor candidates not only successfully passed but they did exceedingly well.
Camille Lemmens is a great instructor, a great Course Director and he lives the PADI standard. I can't say enough how great an experience it was to work with him as he is the epitome of a great instructor. If you simply want to pass the IE choose any Course Director, if you want to truly learn what it means to be an instructor, excel on your IE and have a mentor throughout your career the choice is simple...choose Camille.
Larry G. Bainbridge, OWSI, #313137, USA, August 2014, Osan, South Korea
Unlike my peers who took the PADI IDC course with me, I was the wildcard. They were all very fresh on the material since they took most PADI courses back to back within the past couple of years. I took most of my PADI courses in 1998 then had a very long break.
I took the AI course in S. Korea 2013, 15 years later feeling very outdated and lost, had another short break and rolled right in to the IDC with Camille Lemmens. I must say with his experience, techniques and the extra time & care he gave to ensure all of his students would pass the IE really put me at ease.
Regardless of the time whenever I needed Camille for a question or some extra study he was available to help and never said no. He truly helped me wipe away old dust from my outdated 1998 PADI education and quickly got me up to date to the 2014 PADI standards. When I started the IDC I was not able to pass the written exams, after Camille put in extra time with me and passing over tips of the trade I was a 1st time go on all exams during the PADI IE!!!
Wow that was a relief that money is not able to buy.
I am very grateful to have had Camille as my IDC and Specialty instructor.
Thanks to Camille the IE was no sweat. One big ALOHA to Camille!
Mike Podesta, Hawaii, USA, August 2014, Osan, South Korea
I chose to do my IDC with Camille because a good friend of mine had great things to say about him and the IDC course he ran. Glad to say my friend knew what he was talking about. Camille helped me get ready for the I.E in a cool and well planned out schedule that kept us on our toes and pushed us to get things done. The result was by the time the I.E came around, I was prepared and his guidance made it easier than I thought it would be.
He had answers for every question we threw at him and his experience of how to deal with different skills and make them easy to deal with for a future instructor like myself was invaluable. Overall I found the experience, fun, knowledgeable and intense but in a good way.
Thanks Camille for helping me get through the I.E without any problems and make the whole experience easy.
John Holland, Ireland, June 2014, Koh Samui, Thailand
My husband, John, and I had no idea what the IDC was going to be like. We found Camille online via his many blogs and FB work. His email response time was instantaneous and his recommendations prior to the IDC were spot on where we should live, eat, etc. Once we arrived and got to know our small, intimate group, John and I realised we were being taught how to be PADI instructors by a master. Camille was thorough, tough and relentless in getting us both geared up for success at the Instructors Examination. Thanks Camille!!!! You are a pro.

I did my IDC at Ocean 5 on Gili Air with Camille Lemmens in May 2014. My friends told me to do IDC only with Camille. And so I did. Do I regret? 200% no. In our group, there were 9 candidates (Salome, Emilie, Evan, Jurgen, Oya, Ezra, Mariusz, Martin and me). Level of the group was high but the main thing was – we supported each other as much as possible, helped when some moment everyhing seemed black. And the most important was – we trusted each other and our course director Camille. The dedication and care he have ... Now I understand why my friends insisted me to do the course with him. We grew together in these 2 weeks. It means, that it was more than just an IDC . It was very important moment and life event for many of us and without all of these people it wouldn't be the same. Yes, yes, I know, maybe it seems too sweet what I am going to say now, but that is how I feel and how he made me feel : Camille Lemmens is like a '' godfather'' . Thank you Camille for being Camille

First time I heard about Camille was when I was doing my DM and there was an IDC conducted by him, taking place at the same resort (Oceans5 - Gili Air). All the soon-to-be instructors were speaking highly about him saying how relaxed, fun and at the same time professional their IDC was. I wasn't even considering doing IDC at that time but I knew if one day I decide to do it I will probably contact Camille. After a few months I felt like I was ready to do it. I was already working as a DM in Thailand so I started asking around where I should go for my IDC. I was surprised when I heard Camille's name a few times. I decided to get in touch with shortlisted Course Directors and Camille was the first one to respond. His emails were not like these forwarded offers sent to all the candidates and I didn't feel like his only objective was to sell me his IDC. That was when I decided I would go back to Gili Air and do it with him. All I can say now is that everything I was told about the way he works was 100% true. We were all astouned by his dive knowledge and real life stories during his presentations. We also had a good time everyday after the whole formal part of the IDC, going out for a dinner or a beer. He was always there, ready to answer all our questions. With every day I was gaining more and more self-confidence as a forthcoming instructor and when finally the IE day came I realized I wasn't even nervous - I knew I was ready for it. Maybe this is how the IDC works everywhere, I didn't have a chance to compare but I know that if I had to do it again I would certainly choose Camille as my Course Director.
Mariusz Paziak, Poland, May 2014, Gili Air, Indonesia
He may not be the best-looking dive instructor or IDC course director you've ever seen. Nor is he keen on a BIG night out slamming Vodka Josh and waking up naked next to a mermaid but hey; that's not what will get you through the IE now is it?
Camille's approach to twelve days hard work and preparation for the IE is exactly that, twelve days of hard work and preparation! The first thing he'll tell you is "it's easy, IE stands for it's easy! Now I know what you're thinking cause I was just like you; this clown obviously doesn't know whom he's dealing with? I haven't had a clue how I even became a dive-master and now this dude is going to prepare me to become an instructor? Help!
But let me enlighten you with some positive feedback. When our group of nine students went into the IE we were more than ready! In fact, I doubt many of us even studied before the exams. Camille understands the art of teaching. He makes time for every individual and focuses on each of their problems until they understand. He's not worried whether you got the answer right, he wants to make sure you know how you got the answer right in the first place!
His professional approach and organized manner is why he has become so popular as an IDC course director. Many of us were referred to Camille and I'm sure all of us will refer him on to others. So if you're interested in becoming a Padi Dive Instructor, be sure to do your IDC with Mr. Lemmens. He's actually a funny guy too! And about the mermaids; you'll never know until you've been to Gili Air!

Thanks again Camille you change my life....

Mijn course director was Camille.
Mijn dank was erg groot!

I am from Bahamas and I decided to do my IDC in Thailand. Among all the different schools and teaching Directors possibility, I choose to go with Camille. Not only because he was always quick to answer my million questions by email before the program but also because of his flexibility and understand. Since I was very short on time to complete my IDC, Camille manage to condense the course in 9 days. It was very hard and demanding but with the constant help and focus of Camille I made it through and pass the IE with great ease. I also really enjoy myself with the group, great diner gathering and night live exploring Thailand with my teacher. I recommend the experience to everyone that wants to push his diving skills to the next level while having a great time in Thailand.
Yoann P. Burns, Bahamas, OWSI, March 2014, Phuket, Thailand
"I completed my Padi IDC at Oceans 5 Dive Center in Gili Air Indonesia and the course director was Camille Lemmens. Really intensive work during the IDC and professional preparation for the IE which I passed easy. I like to enjoy every moment of my life, so if you want to combine professional work with a lot of fun then Camille Lemmens is THE course director you will need. Thank you very much Camille for the great time we had during the IDC. Keep going your great job."
Antonis Vintos, Greece, OWSI, PADI 324354, March 2014, Gili Air Indonesia
I recently completed the PADI Instructor Development Course with Camille Lemmens at Oceans 5 at Gili Air in Feb/March 2014
At 53, I admit to having concerns that as a "mature age student" I would not enjoy the course, or worse not succeed. I am pleased to say that my fears were unfounded and it was definitely worth taking the plunge and doing the course!
I would like to commend Camille and his team for delivering a high quality course that I am glad to say I successfully completed. Camille ran an effective and professional IDC that I found both challenging and rewarding.
I was particularly pleased that standards set by Camille were high. The IDC not only prepared me to successfully pass the IE, but also gave me an excellent basis to build a professional instructor career.
Thanks again Camille!
Ian Pittard, Chuuk, Federated States of Micronesia, PADI 334413, March 2014, Gili Air Indonesia
In February 2013 I came to Gili Air for the first time in my life with only 6 dives under my belt. Exactly one year later a dream came true: I started my IDC course with Camille Lemmens at Oceans 5. Camille not only prepared me for the instructor exam he also shared his wide spread experience and knowledge. Camille has high standards and knows how to make a course interesting and fun at the same time. Thank you Camille for a amazing time and I hope to see you soon !
Rose Huizenga, the Netherlands, March 2014, Gili Air Indonesia
Steve Notari, Switzerland, Janvier 2014, Koh Lanta, Thailand
I have just been certified as owsi and also 6 other speciality instructor with course director Camille Lemmens, at Sea Dragon dive center in khao Lak Thailand.
In the IDC there was 6 different nationality of people with different mother tongue but Camille managed to teach all off us and made sure that everyone was ready and well prepared for the IE, and we all passed.
Camille is a very good teacher, always willing to help to assured that we all made it.
Jason Moustache, Seychelles, OWSI, November 2013, Khao Lak, Thailand
Finally everybody made it to an OWSI!
What a fantastic feeling after 12 days hard work, lessons classroom performance, Pool sessions... And everything under pressure. Tension was definitely increasing even we had also a lot of fun in our class due to the dutch Humor of our governor ;-)
I was very glad to meet Camille Lemmens, with his experience he guided us safe into the harbour
After so many ups and downs, and if I write down that meant really down on earth at the edge to give up! And everybody went through this, some more relaxed, some completly stressed. I was also very lucky to meet these bunch of IDC fellowers, all very individual, but giving a real good team Spirit. Thanks to them and thanks to Camille's empathetic, experienced way to handle all of us, we could all succeed!
Hope to See You all again!
Alex Bruder, Germany, OWSI, November 2013, Khao Lak, Thailand
Finally a dream came true! After 12 days of intensive hard work and after a lot of good moments shared in class, in the swimming pool and at the Sea, at the end of November 2013, and just before my birthday I got the most nicest present I could have ever dreamt about: Being certified as a PADI OWSI.
However, now that these days are gone I've realized that this birthday present was not only being certified as a PADI OWSI... the real present I was given, was to be able to spend 12 days with such an amazing people.
Thank you Camille for all that you gave to us. For always being there for us... in the early mornings, and during the whole IDC. Thank you for you patience, your remarks, your jokes and specially thank you for sharing all your knowledge with us. It has been a real pleasure to learn from you.
Camille Lemmens knows what he does, and he does it in the proper way. He knows how to make it challenging but at the same time easy and he knows how to make you learn!!!
Thank you also to Ann, for being our support in physics for being always smiling and for being there for us. It has been great to have her around...
And... thank you to all the Candidates!! we were all so lucky to have us as buddies in this IDC Annie, for her energy and for her funny noises yuhuuuuuu! Jason, for always being smiling and for telling us stories about the time when he was young (he's the Governor!); Alex, for being always so lovely, always so kind...a real gentleman! and Chrissy... for aalways taking care of us with the snacks... and even with a Massage!!!!
So now that the target is achieved, I can say, that what truly worth the IDC (apart from being Certified), was the way to reach it, sharing all these special moments of this multicultural and genuine IDC team headed by Camille!
Patricia 'Pato' Molina Martinez, "I'm from Barcelona!", Spain, OWSI, November 2013, Khao Lak, Thailand
I just been certified as an OWSI/MSDT thanks to Camille, on Gilli Air, Oceans5. We were all from a different background, about 6 of us, and during the IDC, Camille, our Course Director, managed to make it easy and fun, showing patience and dutch humor as well as lots of knowledge. None of us spoke English as their native language, but we manage to understand and passed the IE with confidence (The 6 of us did) counting the fact that we're coming from very different horizons. IE can seem impressive and stressful, but He taught us with interactivity on a comfortable way, made us feeling involved understanding the PADI teaching system. I'm very grateful I've learned with Camille, and couldn't expect better from a Course Director that allowed us to believe in ourselves, to begin on a solid base, starting our PADI instructor career with confidence.
Franck Chevrolat, France, OWSI, October 2013, Gili Air, Indonesia
I wish to express my gratitude to Camille Lemmens, PADI Course Director.
I recently took my IDC with Camille in preparation for my IE. I want to let you now that the course was tough, hard work, but also interesting, informative, widened my diving knowledge but above all fun. Camille is a very good teacher and was able and capable of answering all questions as well as prepare me and the others for the IE.
I would highly recommend Camille to others.
'Professor' David Traversa, Italy, OWSI, October 2013, Gili Air, Indonesia
"From what we get, we make a living. From what we give, we make a life".
And with this attitude Camille prepared us (me and 5 boys!) during the IDC in October 2013, on Gili Air at Oceans 5. Excited as I was at day one, more comfortable I was on day 2, looking forward to day 3, learning interesting facts about your passion on day 4, feeling more and more confidence about Physics and stuff on day 5, having fun with my boys in the pool at day 6, having a Bintang with the group on day 7, feeling sad that it all almost comes to an end at day 8... and being supported during the IE at day 9 & 10 by Camille. I feel lucky. I learned a lot and had fun. Most important aspect of all is that I felt comfortable, which increases the ability to learn. An aspect that I will take with me as a Padi dive instructor!
Michelle Gina Heeringa, the Netherlands, OWSI, October 2013, Gili Air, Indonesia
I finished my IDC recently in Gili Air at Oceans 5 with the lead of course director Camille. I was a bit unsecure about my performance at starting of the course but understanding, patient, professional and most importantly FUN approach towards the students was amazing. I could've not been able to imagine how much fun and learning I signed up for.
Coordination with Sander Buis who did physics with us was seamless. Thanks for both for course and succeeding!
Was extremely fun ten days and of course the following career as PADI dive instructor. Thank you Camille ! Highly recommend for every one whose still considering to become instructor!
Jüri Tõnnov, Finland, OWSI, October 2013, Gili Air, Indonesia
I have worked in the top premium market segment for 20 years as a senior executive and when I see premium quality, I would recognise it.
This is what the IDC conducted by Camille is about - premium quality. Not only did Camille conduct the IDC in a highly professional, well-organized manner but what impressed me most is his passion about teaching and the eagerness to fostering the best instructors he could. This is not easy for someone who have done this for 14 years already.
If being an instructor to you is just about having the card and the status, I would advise you to go somewhere else. But if you really want to learn from the best about the art of teaching scuba diving and would like to come out as a real instructor who are robust in your knowledge and skills, I would recommend you to take your IDC from Camille. Yes, the 10-days of IDC from Camille is intensive, sometimes exhausting but it is also a lot of fun.
Thank you, Camille. I am glad I did the IDC with you and you are definitely a role model for me.
Gary Wong, Hong Kong, OWSI, October 2013, Koh Samui, Thailand
Hadrien Rancurel, France, OWSI, September 2013, Koh Phangan, Thailand
I recently completed an IDC with Camille in Samui. I was very lucky to have 1-1 tuition and found the whole experience both very rewarding and informative as well as fun and engaging. I searched him out after hearing about his reputation and experience as a course director. I think experience really matters in diving and often during the IDC Camille related the material to personal experience both in relation to passing the IE and also in terms of real life work as an OWSI, this made it easy for me to relate to the material. Also, with high standards needed to be achieved during his IDC, it meant I was very well equipped to deal with the IE; scoring higher in each element at the IE then i did at IDC.
We had a good laugh, we got the job done and I would recommend Camille with nothing but the highest praise to anyone!!
Ben Chapman, UK, OWSI, June 2013, Koh Samui, Thailand
I really enjoyed my IDC with Camille. His relaxed attitude and patience made it very easy.
Also his experience and knowledge about diving and the dive- industry will not only make you easily pass the IE but prepare you for your further career as a PADI- dive instructor.
Great experience and great fun.
Marco van Duren, The Netherlands, OWSI, April 2013, Gili Air, Indonesia
The IDC course at Oceans 5 in April 2013 was so fun and inspirational all thanks to Camille! Camille was very knowledgeable and it showed in his teaching. His organisation in preparing us for our IE and our future diving career was impeccable. I would recommend Camille as the course director for anyone looking to become an instructor.
Alycia Garriock, Australia, OWSI, April 2013, Gili Air Indonesia
Due to odd circumstances, I had the privilege to attend not one, but two IDC's with Camille. Needless to say they were both amazing learning experiences. Camille's attention to detail and strict but flexible teaching style meant only the best experience and made the IE a breeze.
His ability to teach in numerous languages makes understanding for multi-lingual classes easy and his experience means he can relate any information to you personally so that you have no trouble with the tricky bits.
Needless to say, if i were asked where to do an IDC i would send the person asking straight to Camille.
Thanks for a great time and making a scruffy kid like me a competent instructor, Camille!
John O'Malley, South Africa, OWSI, April 2013, Gili Air Indonesia
Camille is an outstanding Course Director. He made the IDC very thorough and the IE seemed like a walk in the park. He is very enthusiastic about his job he and made the course fun. I learned a lot about the process of teaching and being a PADI pro. I would highly recommend Camille as a Course Director!
Allie Meyer, OWSI, USA, March 2013, Koh Phangan, Thailand
Thorsten Klein, Deutschland, OWSI, March 2013, Koh Phangan, Thailand
Thank you very much for all the hard work and effort you put into making the IDC at Oceans 5 Gili Air very effective. It fulfilled my requirements perfectly. I am very impressed with your approach to the course, all the aspects and information you provide makes the course very comprehensive. You have lots of experience and are very knowledgeable about the teaching processes of Padi and the requirements required for you to succeed in the Instructor examination.
Your attention to detail is very high and your organisational skills are second to none. These skills help put your IDC candidates at ease and leads them through the entire process. Your teaching techniques and illustrations are clear and easy to follow, you have high standards and push your IDC candidates to perform at a very high level. The result of this means your candidates are very prepared for the IE, and are able to demonstrate their dive instructing abilities easily and in a relaxed manner.
I would recommend your IDC to other people considering becoming Padi dive instructors. I wouldn't be surprised if I went on to do further training with you. I look forward to seeing you again soon. Thank you.
Matthew Anderson, UK, OWSI, February 2013, Gili Air, Indonesia
I did my IDC course with Camille at Ocean's 5, Gili Air. The way Camille teaches is unique, he prepares you so well that you go cruising through the IE and at the same time keeps the fun level high so you can enjoy every moment of it. He is a great professional and loves what he is doing. A big thanks to Camille and ocean's 5 for the life changing experience!
Ignatios Simeonidis, Greece, OWSI, February 2013, Gili Air, Indonesia
Ralf Bommersbach, Germany, OWSI, January 2013, Koh Lanta, Thailand
When I decided to enroll in an IDC someone told me that choosing the right Course Director for my instructor training was the most important decision. Now that it's done I agree and I'm happy that I did my IDC with Camille Lemmens in Jannuay 2013 on Koh Lanta.
I'm still thrilled with the results. It was a really great experience and I feel I learned a lot from it!
I first contacted Camille per email and he was very friendly and helpful from the first moment. He explained all the details about the course, answered all my questions and was available for any follow-up concerns or new issues. Needless to say, my impression was excellent from the beginning.
The course was held in the Padi 5 star IDC center of Blue Planet Divers in Ban Saladan on Koh Lanta in Thailand and it was a full time commitment for 10 days with a lot of studying, lessons in the classroom and pool trainings.
Even though we were a big group of 10 candidates with different background and preparation, Camille did such a great job taking care of everyone individually and helping each of us to focus on his own difficulties. Somedays Camille and his Staff instructors stayed in the classroom until late evening helping some of us with the Dive Theory.
During the classroom and pool training Camille not just taught how to be prepared to pass the IE but also trained us to learn and understand how the Padi system works, how to use it and how to become good instructors. It was much more than I had expected.
As not native English speaker, I was a bit nervous before the course start and worried about that. But it was never a problem. Camille took time to repeat, spoke slowly, explained until everything was clear.
Camille is a very efficient, patient and professional teacher. When he teaches his lessons you can see that although he taught for many years now he is still enjoying and passionate at it. He share his extensive knowledge with real life stores, anecdotes and humor that makes every lesson pleasant and interesting. Before to go for the IE each candidate received an individual counseling and during the exam Camille was always present to assist and encourage us.
Some days after completed the IDC and passed the IE, I met Camille again in Koh Samui to take my Sidemount Specialty Instructor Course.
After the IE I was much relaxed and enjoyed a lot the dives as well spending the time on the boat talking with Camille about the benefits of diving in Sidemount, playing around with different setups and discussing the new opportunities of this fastest growing new trend in diving.
If you are thinking about taking your IDC/IE in Asia, Camille Lemmens is the person you should get in touch with!
Thank you again Camille, Kevin Black (Master Instructor), Anand Chandra Sekaran (IDC Staff Instructor) and the whole staff at Blue Planet Divers in Koh Lanta for this great time.
Leandro Frigerio, Italy, OWSI, January 2013, Koh Lanta, Thailand
My IDC in Malapascua, November 2012, was such a great experience. I had completely other expections when I started the IDC, I was kind of nervous and I had no idea what will happen the coming days.
Camille taught us a lot and I could see the difference (how we perform skills, how we did our presentations, how we get into the PADI System) just after a few days. Camille made it happen that all of us felt comfortable during the course even after a bad score. We were all well prepared for the IE after this IDC, and we all managed to pass the IE with success.
I will recommend all Divers who want to become an Open Water Scuba Instructor or Speciality Instructor to do it with Camille Lemmens and do the IDC with a smile. Just as we did.
Thank you Camille, Joahan Blixt (Master Instructor / Assistant during this IDC) and the whole staff of Sea Explorers in Malapascua for this great time.
Franziska Horn, Luxembourg, OWSI, December 2012, Malapascua, Philippines
I did not originally think of becoming a PADI Instructor but as I was working as a Divemaster I was recommended to go to Malapascua and do the IDC with Course Director Camille Lemmens. I did do so and this is something that I don't think I'll ever regret! The course was loads of fun, I met a bunch of interesting people taking the Instructor course just like me. Camille added to the fun, making sure the classroom sessions never got too boring and made sure we all had the knowledge to go well prepared into the IE.
For anyone in doubt to go through an IDC I can only say that you'll have a ton of fun and accumulate a bunch of knowledge and experience going through an IDC with Camille.
Oskar Arvidsson, Sweden, OWSI, December 2012, Malapascua, Philippines
So far, Camille is the only Course Director I happen to have seen in an IDC. But I wouldn't hesitate a second, recommending everybody who'd ask me, to take his or her IDC with Camille. He makes you feel comfortable and confident in what you are doing. In a humerous and easy-going manner he conducts his focused and efficient preparation for the final Instructor Examination, including a private counseling for every participant.
I learnt a lot from his experiences and little (teach-)diving stories spread all over thecourse. And by the end of the course felt well prepared for teaching my first students!
Tabea Grabitz, Germany, OWSI, December 2012, Malapascua, Philippines
My name is Paden, and I just finished my IDC/IE with Camille Lemmens through Oceans Five on Gili Air, Indonesia. Just a few months ago I was a divemaster living in a place where you can't really dive and you are hard pressed to find anybody who knows much about diving. This would just not due so I started researching different places in the world, and dive centers in those places. I was lucky enough to find Oceans 5 website. I became friends with them on Facebook, and really liked what I saw. So I decided to send them an email asking about their IDC. They replied promptly with great things to say about the island and the diving. After some thought I decided to make the 40 hour journey to the other side of the world to become a dive instructor and I have not regretted it for one minute since.
When I finally got to the island all the people at the dive center were very welcoming and helped me get comfortable on the island. After a little while I realized that the dive center was like a big family. A big family that loves to adopt new kids, for five months or five days they don't care. I had been diving with Oceans 5 for about four months before I started my IDC. In those four months I learned a lot about diving. I felt I had grown a lot as a diver. Then Camille arrived to start the IDC, and in those 8-10 days Camille taught me more than I learned in those four months.
The IDC was an intensive session of learning. Although, the way Camille organized it the course was a fun learning environment. There were only four of us in the IDC and we all had a lot of fun. Camille had all of us more than prepared to pass our IE. We were lucky enough that the PADI examiner came to Gili Air for such a small group. Camille stuck around during the IE to give the candidates moral support. He even stuck around for the after party. It was a night to remember.
My experience on Gili Air has been greater than any dream I could have. I have been very lucky to find such an amazing place full of amazing people. I would like to thank Sander, Simone, and everyone involved with Oceans 5 from staff to customers. You all have made for a great time and I can't wait to come back to this small island paradise. A big thanks to Camille for helping make my dream a reality, I can't thank you enough for everything. And to everyone reading this if you have ever thought about becoming a dive professional I highly recommend it, and Gili Air is an amazing place to make that happen. To all the non-divers out there get out there and learn to dive! I never thought I would enjoy diving, actually the thought terrified me, and now you see where I am.
Paden Wilson, USA, OWSI, November 2012, Gili Air, Indonesia
My name is David from Belgium and I completed my IE on the 2nd of November in Indonesia.
My IDC instructor was Camille Lemmens, friends of mine recommended doing the course with Camille. After about 30sec of hesitation I decided to do this course in Gili Air. Camille does come from The Netherlands and I am from Belgium, hence my hesitation.
When I arrived at the Oceans 5 dive resort my first impression was an unbelievably well run dive resort with first class equipment, great diving facilities (love the pool), beautiful rooms. I must admit I was a bit stressed and uncertain about my abilities as a diver in starting this IDC adventure. But all the staff is very professional and did everything to comfort me.
When I met Camille I felt I met a guy who lives, eats and breathes diving. To work with such an experienced professional is a blessing. It was hard work, stress and studying. But Camille did such a great job by being patient and alternating his lessons in a way we never felt bored. After the course I felt I was ready to do what I love to do, teach diving and see those beautiful smiles when people come out of the water after their first dive.
I would like to emphasize the great teaching methodology and personality of Camille and would highly recommend everybody doing a course with Camille at Oceans 5.
Of the bottom of my heart : Thanks Camille and the Oceans 5 crew!
David Bosmans, Belgium, Padi Open Water Scuba Instructor #283701, November 2012, Gili Air, Indonesia
Wow! I did my IDC with Camille at Oceans 5, Gili Air, Indonesia in August 2012 and I have not looked back.
After completing the new Divemaster course in August 2011 I wanted a new challenge, I found it. The few weeks leading up to the IDC/IE were daunting and I found myself worrying about the RDP exam along with the open water presentations. However, once I met Camille and he explained the IDC and the IE to me, my stress levels dropped and I was able to take onboard all the information he gave me with ease. He really held my hand and walked me all the way through the IDC and the IE.
It was a very busy and tiring 10 days without much rest bite. Nonetheless it was so worth it. The man has a wealth of knowledge waiting to be tapped by an inquisitive mind willing to learn.
I can't stress how easy Camille made it for me and everyone else. No question was left unanswered. He was very organized and in turn so were we. The only thing left for us to do was the homework.
I also did the Nitrox, DUP and Emergency Oxygen Provider specialty courses. I only wish we had the time to do more. Camille's course is well priced along with the specialty courses.
I would recommend Camille's IDC to everyone!
Diolch yn fawr iawn Camille

We are Cindy & Max from France
We arrived in Gili Air as Advanced in May 2012 & we leaved the island in September as a PADI Instructor!
We grown up in the PADI family so quickly, it's amazing!!!!
We were very lucky to had IDC & IE in Gili Air, which is a very nice but small island
We really enjoyed our IDC by Camille
We are not native English speaker, so we were a bit nervous and worried about that. The Question was, can we do it in English? But it was Ok, because Camille took time to repeat, speak slowly, explain : "tu as compris maintenant?"
The IDC was an intense 10 days: stress for our classroom presentation in English, homework after a long day, but every day we had a big fun, laught
The IE was like Camille said "It's Easy"
Thank you again Camille
Thank you Sander & Simone of Oceans 5, Dive resort Gili Air

I'm a current Padi instructor and in need of another direction in my current diving career.
I wanted to find out how to grow in the PADI business and on the web I found Camille and got in touch with him, he gave me the instructions to follow and 2 months later I was shaking his hand in Thailand, that was great, quick and no regrets at all.
I took a friend af mine, who became an instructor after that IDC and I became an IDCS Instructor!
It was very pleasant, lots of homework, but learnt a lot again, a real powerfull injection that keeps me going untill today, and Camille gave me the taste to continue on my way to Course Director! I'll be pleased to see him again. Tough, good and straightforward, with lots af laughs and fun moments, the qualities I'm looking for, to get teached and how I teach every since!
Very good and to recommend, we'll see each other again Camille, for teaching and jokings!
Stefaan Dewulf, IDC staff, Reunion Island, South West Indian Ocean, April 2012, Khao Lak, Thailand
After completing my IDC Staff course in the Philippines I got interested in staffing. I had been teaching for three years and staffing an IDC felt like a nice variety from other courses; as well I found a new challenge for myself within the dive industry.
In the Philippines I met Camille, who taught an IDC in conjunction with the Dive centre I was working for, and we immediately got along well. Even though the time we spend together was brief, I had a good feeling about working together some day.
The moment I moved to Thailand I found the opportunity to staff with Camille. At the start of the first IDC I staffed he kindly asked me whether I felt comfortable or not doing presentations. I was not just quite there, so I replied that I would like to see Camille his presentations. During this IDC I have been making many notes. By the end of it I had a notebook written full. Even hearing the presentations for the third time, I was constantly fascinated by the real life application of every single power point slide we got to see.
The second IDC I staffed with Camille I happily did IDC presentations, knowing I have had the best training possible, and I felt ready to pass on my knowledge to IDC candidates.
Julia van Beinum, The Netherlands, Master Instructor, April 2012, Khao Lak, Thailand
"I decided to take instructor specialities (DUP and deep diving) straight after I had become an PADI instructor. And as I was due to go to the Philippines last March, I wrote to all the course directors working there.
Camille Lemmens was the first one to answer me but more important to give me precise and accurate informations.
He was also the only one to accept to teach me while running an IDC in Malapascua which meant long working hours for him.
Camille is very available and always keen on giving advice and a very positive person, making you feel that (almost) everything is possible.
I have enjoyed his professionalism, the high level of his teaching and his involvment and passion for teaching and diving along with his great personality and good sense of humour.
I have had a tremendous time learning and diving with him and I am proud to know that we were together when he saw his first thresher shark.
He is among the few instructors I have had who have made me want to become an Instructor.
And I will not hesitate to ask him to give me training if I decide to become a Staff instructor.
Camille has the TEACHING and DIVING spirits !
I highly recommend him and wish him all the success he deserves.
Thank you Camille !
Stéphanie Coulibaly, Paris and Asia, PADI OWSI, Specialties during March at Malapascua, Philippines
Hi my name is Rui from Japan. I just completed IDC by Camille and passed IE in the end of March 2012 in Malapascua, Philippines.
I loved my IDC by Camille very much. I'm not a native English speaker, so that I was a bit nervous and worried about that I can make it in English or not before start IDC. But my distress had gone soon after, he took it away promptly.
It was just incredibly fun!!! You don't believe that!? Well, there were always peals of laughter in the classroom. I had never thought that IDC is such a great fun as I could learn a lot of knowledge and skills from him but in the meantime I laughed a lot. He is super approachable and sociable, there is always an affable smile on his cheeks.
I believe that Camille has a wonderful conversation skill to attract people. I never feel boring and even once during our classroom lessons. He always put us at ease and showed us a certain point which we should have focused or weak subject of individual. I could easily find a way what I needed for the moment or for the next step.
I would definitely choose Camille as my Course Director, If I have to do IDC again...but no more!!
I really appreciate for giving me a good opportunity and a lot of knowledge and especially BIG FUN
ARIGATO so much, my best Course Director Camille.
I can highly recommend Camille as your Course Director!!!!!!!!
Rui Hoshiyama, OWSI, Japan, March 2012, Malapascua, Philippines
Having worked solidly as an instructor for the 3 years since originally completing my IDC I had decided that the time had come to take a step further in my career development and to focus on preparing myself to become more competent in instructor development programs and I felt the best way to do this was to staff an IDC. Being based in SE Asia there is a wide range of possibilities to choose from when looking for a Course Director and as I had selected my IDC and my IDCSI course in the past I now felt I had better grounds upon which to make a decision as to who to pick for further development.
I picked Camille initially based on his responses to my communications as they stood out from other Course Directors as being more directly related to my needs as opposed to outlining a generic approach to course delivery. Beyond this I researched as much as I could and only found positive opinions on him.
Right from the start Camille took a great deal of interest in where I fit in to the diving industry and what my future intentions are and specifically what I wanted out of the course. It had been a long time since I sat my IDC so this was a fantastic opportunity to go over the content again in a stress free environment and I was surprised how much I learned about "the basics" which I thought I had in the bag already. As an IDC staff instructor I am certified to teach up to AI level but really did not feel prepared to do so prior to sitting this IDC with Camille, I now feel I can offer the AI course to my students and deliver a strong course in return.
Camille has a great ability to remove a lot of the stress that is inherent in the IDC. He manages to keep even the most uninteresting topics entertaining without drifting from the point and when someone hits a hurdle he manages to break down the subject and put it all together in terms that even the likes of I can understand. There were many occasions throughout the course when candidates (me included) requested 1-2-1 time after hours to go through things and Camille was always open to this. As well as being educational, the IDC I sat in with Camille was also very good fun and in general an experience that I look forward to taking part in again sometime soon.
Drew McArthur, Wales, IDCSI 650930, March 2012, Malapascua, Philippines
I was interested in staffing IDCs with different Course Directors for more experience, and Camille had been recommended to me by colleagues. The staffing experience on Camille's IDC was exactly what I was looking for: he is very open to share information and ideas; he allowed me to really get involved with presenting, reviewing theory, scoring candidate presentations and giving feedback. The IDC was also great fun for staff and candidates alike, and I learned a lot of new techniques for motivating and setting a relaxed atmosphere. Camille also gave me great advice about my own career development and was very supportive of my goals. Thank you Camille!
Sue Gibbins, UK, PADI Master Instructor, March 2012, Malapascua IDC, Philippines
Hi, my name is Laetitia from Switzerland, French part! I just finished my IDC on Koh Samui and passed my IE in March 2012 with Camille, in Koh Tao, Thailand.
My IDC was cool, fun but serious because there is so much to learn and relearn something. Camille was very patient, encouraging and professional because I have done the course in English.
Camille has taken as much time to explain everything until I had understood everything.
On my IE, Camille was my moral support and encourage me, I believe that there is no better now than he was.
I thank Camille for all he has taught me and I highly recommend it to anyone who want to pass their IDC and IE to do with Camille.
Be ready to have lots of fun and learn so much in every way in all subjects.
Thank you again Camille and the Dive Academy.
Laetitia Zimmermann, Switzerland, OWSI, March 2012, Koh Samui, Thailand
I am Jeff Huang, a 26 year old male Singaporean student. When I did my dive master course in Bali last year, I was so happy with my dive resort's service standards that I wanted to continue my dive education with them. It was by pure coincidence that my school holidays did not allow for that to be arranged, and I ended up doing my IDC with Camille in Khao Lak from the 5th till 16th December 2011.
It was with loads of skepticism that I started the course with this strange Dutchman who lives in Thailand. This was especially so since I only do diving as a hobby - I only have 101 dives when I started the IDC- naturally the most junior in the group. Despite the initial insecurities, Camille put me right at ease and helped me pass the IE without a glitch.
But as the course developed I found Camille to be really approachable, patient and insightful. These 3 adjectives sum up my impression of Camille and that will be how I remember him.
- insightful because of how he structures the course schedule, and has a methodology that is tried and tested. From day 1 he lays out what we can expect with great clarity, and after that he just unpacks the course materials like clockwork
- patient because of how he would ensure each candidate grasps the required concepts, and would spend extra time on day offs to hone the skills/classroom presentations/ theory as necessary.
- approachable is an understatement- he exchanges hand phone numbers across the classroom from day 1, and encourages group study sessions after hours. He is not only approachable himself, but he fosters a strong team spirit and camaraderie that is clearly evident during our actual IE that even the examiner mentioned that taking our group was very easy and he actually enjoyed his time with us.
Camille, here's a big THANK YOU once more! =]
Jeff Huang, Singapore, OWSI, December 2011, Khao Lak, Thailand
Hi, my name is Pablo and I am completely addicted to diving. Like me you may be thinking of becoming a dive instructor enabling you to fund your own addiction by passing this addiction onto others. Well if your thinking about completing your IDC in Asia, then make the right choice and have Camille as your Course Director.
Why Camille? Well if you have already read the other testimonials on his website then you can quickly put together the repeating pattern of his qualities. Like others before me I found Camille's instruction as world class. He is knowledgeable, patient and professional. He puts students at ease and caters to individual students learning styles, strengths and weaknesses.
What I found most important was that he is extremely approachable and generally a very likeable person. This came as a complete relief for me as through my extensive travels I have met a number of course directors who perhaps through engorged egos, are simply just lacking the approachability that Camille displays with such ease. After finishing the IDC with Camille at Oceans 5, Indonesia, I was not able to complete my Instructor Exam (IE) straight away due to previous engagements. I had to complete the IE two months later in Sydney. At first I was worried that after two months I would forget the preparation that Camille had taught me. Alas I need not of worried. In the lead up to my IE in Sydney Camille made himself available to me via skype and supported me with doubts I had. Even though he was almost 7000 km away I could still feel his support via the internet. I completed my IE hassle free, scoring almost full marks and realised that Camille's scoring throughout the IDC was in fact much harder then the examiners, therefore preparing me at a much higher standard. This made for a stress free exam.
However what i found most appealing about Camille is that he still has that infectious passion for diving. I was always hesitant about spending all this money on an IDC as unlike other PADI courses it doesn't require that much actual Open water diving. Most of the classes are in the pool or classroom and with the first class diving facilities and dive sites offered by Oceans 5 on our doorstep my addiction was gnawing at me. Luckily I soon realised that Camille is a fellow addict. Even with our busy schedule Camille made time to allow me to go diving everyday and he would relish the chance of joining me in the water. I will never forget our dive with turtles, sharks and octopus where he taught me some very unusual hand signals. Or the dives with incredible numbers of Ornate ghost pipefish just posing for our cameras. He is also a fellow gin lover, has great taste in music and is generally an interesting guy and I am sure theres more to him then I ever had the time to find out. Thanks Camille for feeding my addiction, being an incredibly good teacher, a wicked dive buddy and a friend. I look forward to the chance of diving with you again.
Paul (a.k.a Pablo) Cannings, Australia, PADI OWSI #268231, November 2011, Gili Air, Indonesia.
I have just successfully completed one of Camille Lemmens IDC's in Koh Samui and I am delighted also to have passed the I.E.
Camille is brilliant at what he does, as Course Director, he makes everything he teaches seem very easy. He knows what is expected of candidates to succeed in passing an IDC and IE and he did his best to get us ready, as long as we were prepared to listen, learn and put in the hard work required to get a pass score.
We were also very lucky to have three other great IDC staff Instructors present, Paul Meredith from The Dive Academy, here in Samui, Christophe, who came in from the Seychelles and Imad from the Emirates. The three of them were great helping us iron out the pool skills and rescues, making presentations and generally giving us great encouragement and support throughout.
It was a pretty intense schedule and personally, having not done anything like this for a very long time, I did not find it that easy, however it turned out to be a great learning experience, with lots of hard work but fun as well.
I cannot thank Camille enough, for his excellent tutoring, patience and push to get me through this successfully.
There where many smiling faces last week as I and all my fellow candidates celebrated our pass on this IDC and I.E.
Christine Holley, UK, OWSI, November 2011, Koh Samui, Thailand.
So many things have changed and are changing for me since I did MY IDC & IE if you had of told me this before hand during my IDC I would never of believed you, they are all good a lot more than I could have thought possible as they say no pain no gain ....;-)))))))))).
Thank you again Camille and Sander of Oceans 5 dive resort Gili Air
Wayne Jennings, Australia, OWSI, August 2011, Gili Air, Indonesia
At the beginning of our course Camille said that the I.E that we were preparing for was not in fact an acronym for 'Instructor Exam' but stood for, 'It's Easy'.
Having just passed my I.E with flying colours, I can now tell you that it only stands for 'It's Easy', because of Camille's passion, approach and leadership within the course which reflects on you as a student. It's hard work, yes, but Camille sticks with you all the way and helps you to understand and grasp the concepts of the Padi Teaching Methods and the knowledge required for the Theory exams.
In summary, a great course, taught by a great guy. I would thoroughly recommend you take an IDC with Camille to ensure 'It's Easy' when it's your turn to sit the Instuctor Exams.
Lorne Harris, UK, PADI Instructor 273234, July 2011, Koh Samui, Thailand
I recently completed my PADI IDC in Koh Samui. Thanks to my Course Director I passed my IE with flying colors. The IDC was an intense 10 days but well worth it because it really prepared us (we were a class of 5) for the exam. Going into the IDC I was not sure if I was ready to be an instructor but now I can confidently say that I'm ready and can not wait to instruct my first class. My enthusiasm for teaching and diving has grown so much in the last few weeks. I thank Camille for teaching me so much about the PADI Dive Industry and for being a wonderful mentor.
Leslie Webb, USA, OWSI, July 2011, Koh Samui, Thailand
Thanks Camille for making our IDC fun and interesting. You kept it balanced by preparing us well for the I.E. and more importantly, instilled confidence for dealing with dive situations that we may have with students. For anyone considering what course director to use, I highly recommend Camille and would not change a thing if I had to do it over again.
Clyde Wylie, USA, OWSI, July 2011, Osan, South Korea - as part of the first Western PADI IDC in South Korea ever!
The IDC this July with Camille was excellent. The level of instruction that we received was world class and he was great at putting everyone at ease and answering all our questions. When We first started I was a nervous wreck. On top of completing the IDC and getting ready for the Instructor Exam, I was in the final weeks of planning for my wedding which was scheduled for the weekend immediately following the IDC/IE. Camille and the IDC staff made the experience not only educational but fun, to the point that by the time we were done with the evaluations and presentations, you didn't even realize that you were a third of the way done, half way done or that you were about to step into the IE the following day, it was great. If I had to do it over again, I would definitely go through it with Camille and I wouldn't think twice about signing up to learn from him.
Thank you Camille for helping me to get ready for the IE and making a stressful event seem like a day at the beach.
Luis Rico-Castillo, USA, OWSI, July 2011, Osan, South Korea - as part of the first Western PADI IDC in South Korea ever!
For those considering becoming a PADI Instructor, here is a quick Input-Output-Outcome analysis on Camille Lemmon's and his PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC). Inputs include a motivated Instructor Candidate, the PADI Instructor Development Course, and a world class Course Director. The output is simply a candidate capable of passing the PADI Instructor Exam (IE). The outcome however is much more dynamic. Camille not only completely prepares you for the IE he coaches, mentors, and inspires each candidate to become the best instructor possible. After receiving Camille's instruction you will successfully fly through the IE and are immediately ready to take on your first student. Additionally, I enjoyed and appreciated Camille's personnal and professional method of instruction, time and money well spent! I look forward to diving with Camille again and showing off my new skills to the Master!
Jay A Blakley, USA, OWSI, July 2011, Osan, South Korea - as part of the first Western PADI IDC in South Korea ever!
If you are looking for a Course Director who will give you the best start to your Instructor career then Camille is your man. His IDC's are extremely comprehensive and thorough and he educates you in a way that more than ensures you are adequately prepared for the IE; providing lots of insight and great experience to bring the theory to life. But if you undertake your IDC on Samui and he suggests taking you to Little Holland for lunch, make your excuses quickly!!
Claire Whitfield, UK, OWSI, May 2011, Koh Samui, Thailand
1st of all thank you!
After some years as Dive Master and videographer, it was not obvious to cross and jump into the IDC and become a PADI Instrutor. But, I was thinking, it's something more to learn and another card to show to work into the diving world!...as you can understand was not easy to go into all of this again!!! ...I enjoyed it, really! Camille made things in a very comfortable way, all was smooth and organized. No rush and no stress, allways helpfull and professional. What to ask more!!??
We arrive to the I.E more than ready, the 2 days of what should be "stress" became fun, with laughter and jokes all around, all his group succeed.
Thank you again, as well to Sander and Simone of Oceans 5, Resort Dive Center.
Cécile Gennari, France, OWSI, April/May 2011, Gili Air, Indonesia - as part of Camille's first IDC in Indonesia
During the completion of our Dive master course we met up with Platinum PADI Course Director Camille Lemmens.
We decided to undertake the PADI Instructor Development Course (PADI IDC) with one of our close friends and also another Divemaster. Due to the small group set up we received a high level of individual attention and personalised advice from Camille.
Camille is a well organised and a great teacher. He follows a structured approach to teaching and this meant that we were and felt well prepared for the IE and confident in the knowledge gained througout the IDC process.
We can truly say that we hit Gold with our course director and we have learnt more than ever imagined. Our brains became sponges taking on vital techniques on how to pass on and teach this wonderful and fun sport of ours. We loved every moment.
Marisa and Daniel de Jager, South Africa, OWSI, March/April 2011, Koh Lanta, Thailand
I did my IDC at Blue Planet divers at Koh Lanta with Camille and right from the start I knew I had chosen the right CD to do it with he made the theory very easy to understand and with some subjects that where not my strong point he still made it easy and pass the IE with flying colours. Not only the theory but also the practicle side of things, but what I thought was the best part about doing it with Camille is he made it fun! I have never been a big fan of sitting in classrooms but I actually enjoyed going to the idc, well once he promised me there would be no "smelting accidents" Camille has greatly inproved my knowledge and passion for diving and everyday I am thankfull for this, but not just for my idc he has still helped me many months after and I feel very secure in the fact I know Camille is always at the end of a telephone or email.
If anyone is thinking about doing their idc in Thailand I highly recommend Camille and I am sure you will be happy with your choice of using him
Thanks for everything Camille

In 1996, at 14 years of age, I got my Junior Open Water SCUBA certification. Even though it was quite some time ago, the memory is still very vivid: I recall how much I looked up to my instructor, the way he made me feel undeniably safe, even though the feeling of being underwater was so unnerving. I remember thinking how calm and collected he was. I also remember thinking that it would probably take me a lifetime be that comfortable in such a foreign environment.
Today, 15 years later, I certified my first three junior open water divers. At the beginning of the course, they told me how nervous they were to try SCUBA. Would they really be able to breathe underwater? Would they encounter sharks, eels, and other terrifying sea creatures? What about the final exam—could someone as young as 11 years old understand all the information necessary to be a diver?
When they had finished the classroom portion, they all breathed a sigh of relief, but were still apprehensive about the practical application. However, after surfacing from their first open water dive, they were hooked; and once they had completed their final OW dive, their faces betrayed an undeniable feeling of accomplishment, a feeling that proved contagious—I too, felt as though I had accomplished something great. I had effectively transmitted something for which I care deeply, on to a whole new generation.
None of this would be possible without the hard work and dedication of Mr. Camille Lemmens. Without Camille, I would be just another Divemaster—don't get me wrong, guiding dives is still my favorite activity—however, it doesn't reward one with the same sense of pride that comes from passing the art of SCUBA on to another individual.
As a working PADI instructor, I can't help but feel the same sense of awe towards Camille as I did with my first open water instructor—he is calm at times that I feel stressed, knowledgeable in areas that I still struggle, and helpful in too many ways to count. Throughout my IDC last March, Camille guided me through the world of professional diving and, though difficult at times, made sure that I absorbed all the information needed to pass my IE. However, above all, he gave me a goal, a mark to hit, for Camille embodies the caliber of instructor that I strive to be everyday.
Do yourself a favor: if you're considering taking your diving career to the next level, turn to Camille Lemmens to help you get there—I promise, you won't be disappointed!
Cody Wilkie, USA, OWSI# 284089, IDC February/March 2011, Koh Lanta, Thailand
It seems like there are a Million and One places where you can do your IDC. And a Million and one Course Directors to choose from. But, it's actually quite an easy choice: Camille Lemmens!
He is a fabulous teacher, both in and out of the water and I felt extremely well-prepared for the IE. Plus, he's an all-around cool guy and one of the best that I've met in the diving industry. You won't regret your choice.
Jackie Bolen, USA, OWSI, January/February 2011, Malapascua, Philippines - as part of the first ever PADI IE on Malapascua and my first IDC in the Philippines
Out of al the instructors and course directors I've met in the dive industry, Camille Lemmens is the best. He made my IDC and IE on Malapascua in early 2011 a very gentle and relaxing experience and afterwards I felt safe to take on my first open water students.
Martin Eriksson, Sweden, OWSI, January/February 2011, Malapascua, Philippines - as part of the first ever PADI IE on Malapascua and my first IDC in the Philippines
I arrived last December 2010 on Samui. I already knew that I will do OWSI. Paul, from The Dive Academy advised me to do it with Camille. So then, I met Camille before end of last year. Fixed everything to start the IDC soon in January...
So far – so good... everything started. And it was really a lot of experience he teached us. Everything he advised us, I still do it today with customers from me. The other candidate – Darius Irani, was also very nice. I really enjoyed the whole IDC – a litte bit scared about the IE, but after the two days IE – everything finished – and I got my OWSI. Camille – thank You again for Your help, also during the specialities You teached me.
Simon Vetterli, Switzerland, OWSI, January 2011, Koh Samui, Thailand
Doing my IDC on Ko Lanta was one of the most fun times in my diving education. The course not only refined my skills but also taught me how to think about diving from a teaching perspective. Working in a small group meant that I was able to get a lot of individual attention and constructive feedback. After the two-week course, I felt very confident going into my IE which surprisingly also turned out to be a lot of fun, because I felt so prepared.

Marlies Wolters, Nederland, OWSI, October 2010 IDC, Koh Samui
During my IDC in August 2010, led by Course Director Camille Lemmens, I had a great time and a good experience. Camille is very professional, thorough and complete. During the intensive training, there was ample room for questioning, discussion and, where desired, additional exercise.
With thorough preparation and a lot of confidence, I was well prepared for the IE which I have finished with great success.
Besides all the services during training was the support in finding the way on Koh Samui, as transportation and a good apartment, very pleasant.
Thanks Camille, we had lots of fun. On a scale of 1 to 5, you get a maximum 5!
Marc van Riel, the Netherlands, OWSI, August 2010 IDC, Koh Samui
Camille Donders Bedankt
Mark Bruijnis, #267275, Nederland, Augustus 2010 IDC, Koh Samui
I wish I could attend another IDC with Camille, it was a wonderful learning experience, to be very honest I hated classrooms during my university days, but it was opposite in Camille's IDC classroom. Thanks Camille and hope to see you soon again
Sunil Devaraj, India, OWSI, May 2010 IDC, Koh Samui
We would like to pay our tribute to Platinum Course Director Camille Lemmens. He was from the first minute a real mentor for us and still is. His attitude was from the first second, until today, not only professional, it was outstanding. Camille encouraged us to achieve the best results possible, but he was always good for a joke to relieve the pressure. He is a great motivator and one of the most reliable people we have ever met.
Dijana and Thomas, IDCS, Germany, December 2009 IDC
To all you divers who consider doing an IDC, my recommandation would be, go to Ko Samui and get Camille Lemmens.
I first heard of the guy from some collegues who wanted to do there divemaster with him. I am not to found of Thailand and was planning to do my IDC in Brazil, next year. For different reasons I had to change my plans, so I looked on the internet and came accros his name again. I decided to give it a try and wrote my first mail. Within houres i got a reply. I send some more mails with some more detailed questions and again in no time i got all the information I requested.
So I decided to go ahaed with it and confirmed that I was joining for the IDC, made a downpayment and 3 weeks later I was there.
When I arrived everything was organized. I was picked up from the airport, had a fantastic bungalow for low cost, internet and a scooter. Camille himself was out diving when I arrived but upon his return he came to great me at home. (What a guy)
I also signed up for the prepcourse wich was due to start in 2 weeks but he asked me inmediattely if I wanted the go to the pool the next day to practise some skills! A couple of day’s later he invited me to come to the classroom to go trough some theorie, all that with no extra costs.
The actual prep course and IDC was the most intense PADI course I have ever taken part in. I was a bit worried at the beginning because I’m not the best student ever, but the way he explained things was crystal clear. Even if you didn’t understood something the first time he always had different ways to explain you the same thing. He never lost his patience and was always there for us. We could call him day and night. He is probably the most experienced teacher I ever came accros. Experience you gain trough the years but the dedication he showed that you have or you don’t.
We also did alot of specialty’s, one was wreck diving which took us to Pattaya for a couple of days. Here again he not only showed to be a good mentor but also be a friend.
I never liked Thailand very much, but the 2 months I spend there went by so quick. If I could I do it all over again. One thing is for shure, I will go back.
Thank you Camille.

I attended the IDC with Camille as the Course Director in Aug-Sept of 2009 with the IE itself held on Koh Tao. It had been a 4 year work in progress to get myself ready for instructor training. I planned a 6 month absence from work and flew to Thailand after contacting Camille and being impressed with the information he provided, speedy responses as well as his willingness to answer in detail all the questions and trepidations I had. Arriving on Koh Samui I was warmly greeted and given a good run down of the island itself and Camille organized a bungalow, jeep and materials all on the first day of my arrival. I attended the IDC with 2 others, a well travelled French fellow and an experienced South African who both turned into very good friends indeed. Koh Samui itself was incredible and very different from Australia's capital to say the least as thousands of games of pool and Singha beer over the next few months would attest. Camille's IDC was extremely good and I was impressed more and more with his attitude, professionalism and understanding of diving, PADI and the opportunities that exist as an Instructor. An exacting but fair critic able to quickly spot faults and remedy them Camille had us completely and totally prepared for the IE. All of us felt that after a couple of weeks with Camille that we were looking forward to the IE and finally being qualified. What I could not have imagined in all those years leading up to it was what an amazing time and how much fun I would have while being there for my exams. We celebrated each small victory as if it was the last and I was extremely satisfied personally to ace the whole IE program which felt straightforward and very smooth after such good preparation and totally attributable to my good Divemaster training with the club back home and then all of Camille's efforts during the IDC to hone our skills and presentations.
I stayed on to do the internship program with Planet Scuba and I couldn't recommend enough that new Instructors do an internship to gain experience, teaching and handle real life scenarios with good experienced instructors. I'd thank Camille, Geoff, Rob and Steve for passing on their knowledge and really teaching how to teach the nuts and bolts of the PADI courses. I'm very glad I stayed on to complete the internship and now feel very confident teaching with the dive club back here in Australia (plus I'm trying to introduce buckets to Aussie pubs). I'd recommend Camille's IDC to anyone. On Koh Samui and Koh Tao I met some truly great people and really enjoyed the six months on the island. For me it was a major life goal to become an Instructor and I'm now enjoying diving and the challenge of teaching. Enjoy it all and have fun.
Chris Jones, MSDT, Australia, September 2009 IDC
I did my IDC with Camille in July of ’09. I was really pleased in the way it was taught, especially after hearing of how other IDC’s went with other instructors.
Not only did I learn a lot, but Camille also kept it fun and interesting, which made it a lot easier for me to focus and learn and retain the information that I needed.
It seemed to me that Camille was not just going through the motions, but was keenly interested in me not only passing the IE, but also excelling in it and becoming a top-notch instructor. I also was pleased that Camille went with us to Koh Tao for support during our IE. That meant a lot to calm our nerves and be able to perform well during the tests.
After the IE, I decided also to take a bunch of specialty instructor courses with Camille to further my experience and value as an instructor, which not only was informative, but really fun during the dives we did where we saw a lot of interesting stuff.
All in all I had a great time and learned a lot, but if I never see another power point slide I probably won’t be too disappointed.
Erik Vinik, USA, OWSI, July 2009 IDC
Don’t know what to say really, but doing the IDC with Chief Camille was really fun , and the knowledge we took in this enriched IDC was bubbling in our head on the last day, just waiting for the IE to release, and so we did , passing the theories and standards in a tremendous easy way.
The way you teach chief is more than professional you teach with feeling of responsibility, same as a dad teaches his children, you have really changed my life and gave me a new way in evaluating situations not only in diving but in life as well, and changed the way I look to life, really you are special and you are a person who have principles and committed to his word, and knowing what you are doing too.
Moreover , you gave me a new family , we were five candidates, and now we are 5 instructors graduated in your 50th IDC, you were our father there, and you gave us a family spirit together; Me, Barbel, Gavin, Prebin, Krit and we all felt it the day of IE. We will meet again and we will be as you instructed us always Chief Camille. thanks again.
Imad Khashfeh, Lebanon, OWSI, February 2009 IDC
Thank you to Camille Lemmens for conducting the Februarys IDC on Koh Samui. He is the best course director I've met very professional and made learning easy and fun. I am honoured to call him my Instructor as now I am a padi instructor myself and he is my role model, I will try to be as good as Camille is that is my new goal. He is a great asset to the worlds best diving company PADI.
He is a pleasure to work with.

Chris is now OWSI thanks to Camille's IDC and captivating powerpoints! I highly recommend Camille's IDC to anyone looking for professional and proper training to prepare for the IE. Thanks a million Camille!

Of anders mij even een mailtje/berichtje sturen...
Maurice van den Heuvel, Oktober 2008 IDC
So you're thinking about doing the IDC? You're definitely in the right place! I did the IDC with Camille in August 2008 and successfully completed the Instructor Exam straight afterwards.
There are many reasons I chose to do the IDC with Camille, and if you're anything like me you will be asking yourself the same questions, so hopefully my story might help you make a decision.
I live in Sydney, Australia and although the diving is good here there are lots of distractions (work, friends, family etc.) that I knew wouldn't allow me to give focus completely on the IDC/IE. So I started looking abroad so a package to take me from Divemaster to Open Water Scuba Instructor where I could submerse myself in the course. I looked at many different regions of the world and spoke to many different companies and course directors, after which my decision was easy.
I had lots of questions for Camille about the standard and quality of living on Koh Samui, the type of accommodations available, transportation, vehicle hire, shopping (to keep my girlfriend happy), medical facilities, food, entertainment, safety etc, etc. and Camille answered every single question usually the same day, or at least within 24hours for me.
During the MSDT Prep course, we stayed on Samui for one month, the little house we rented was great value for money, with a kitchen, bathroom, A/C, Fan, Satellite TV and a Wi-Fi connection just a short drive from some nice little restaurants, the pier, good shops and the IDC classroom all organized by Camille.
The actual IDC was challenging, no doubt about it, but the hard work really paid off and actually made the IE quite easy, I honestly believe that was purely thanks to Camille's teaching methods and enormous wealth of diving knowledge and experience. Camille was there to offer his guidance and support from the moment I stepped off the plane and we are still in touch by email now.
At first, the thought of living in Thailand for a month was quite daunting, but looking back it was without a doubt one of the best experiences of my life!
Thanks for everything Camille and I'll look forward to diving with you again soon!

On the 2nd Jan 2006 I headed east to Thailand to take my PADI Dive Master with Samui International Dive School, that was the first time I met Camille Lemmens.
He was and still is their Course Director and over the past two years I worked here and despite the ups and down of my life as a Dive Master he was always there to give advise even when I decided to head back to England he was there to make me realize the futility of giving up on my dream of being an OW Scuba Instructor.
His dedication and concern for his students goes way beyond his role as a Course Director, so on the 21st of Aug 2008 and with his help and hard work I sat my IE and passed.
I cannot thank him enough

We houden contact.

Thank you for your patience and education, Camille! This course is not only professional but also so much fun! It certainly helps me and will help you think where to start from professional diving and its business. (p.s. Camille, I love your graduation party!!!) Good luck to you all new candidates!
Dive Safe, have fun! And share with others~~~

My name is Fred Wynn, BSAC OWI 5374 and now a PADI
OWSI 494460, living in Guernsey, Channel Islands, UK.
I had wanted to do an instructor cross-over or IDC for some time and my intention was to schedule various dive trips around this course. Taking a three month gap break from the office does take some organizing, especially as I wanted to dive in some far flung places. This was an opportunity of a lifetime and I wanted to make good use of every single day.
Unlike other people I had made enquires with, my first impression about dealing with Camille is that you always get a reply – even if it is just an ‘out of office – I will get back to you’ – you have the reassurance that you are being looked after (I had to laugh when I received a reply from one IDC enquiry – when I was actually on the IDC with Camille – the enquiry being made some 4 months previously !) People do things differently, and for me – I wanted to have everything booked, hotels, planes etc for the three months before I left home.
My initial enquiry with Camille was in early September 2007 – and from then on, Camille went out of his way to help me make the necessary hotel bookings in Koh Samui and Koh Tao. I guess looking back, I was probably one of his more ‘demanding’ students – lots of questions, travel tips and of course most important, wanting to get up to speed with PADI and to be prepared for the course. I probably at some disadvantage that others – as I had not gone through the ‘ranks’ of diving with PADI. Camille thankfully gave me the reassurance and pre course help to allay my initial worries.
It had been just a ‘few’ years since I had sat in a classroom and I imagine all the other six candidates, like myself had first day nerves – new people to meet and what the next two weeks had install for us all. Having already done an instructor course with BSAC – the difference is that this is spread over a period of time and not two weeks !
From day one, Camille made us all feel at ease, was extremely professional and I thought had an excellent way of teaching. Day two and the initial panic of, “I’ll never get through these two weeks” was gone. Lots of questions were dealt with, and there was even some good humor thrown into the course as well – which made it a thoroughly enjoyable, not forgetting a very memorable experience.
I believe we were all fortunate as there was a great bunch of people on our IDC – all coming from different parts of the word (Netherlands, Sweden, Austria, Guernsey, Singapore and Japan) with so very different personalities. The two weeks were not easy – there were many moment of stress, but this was made easier by the help of Camille, the other students and not forgetting the IDC staff who provided first class ( I mean that !) help in the background.
I would certainly recommend Camille to anyone thinking of doing their IDC.
Fred Wynn, UK, February 2008 IDC
It’s taken me a few weeks to get round to it but I thought I should write a quick letter to say that how happy I was with the IDC course that I done with Camille in Koh Samui and would recommend anyone thinking of doing the course to do it with him.
I started off full of confidence thinking that it would be no problem, but soon into the IDC I realized that it was a going to need a reasonable amount of work and effort to pass this which started me doubting myself ,but with reassurance and help from Camille by the time I finished the IDC I felt that I had the knowledge and skills to pass the IE (which I did J ) .We were taught in a relaxed but professional way and were given all the information (and a bit extra ) to pass the IE.
This wasn’t the first Course Director I looked at doing my course with. I done a little homework myself online and with the phone speaking to different Course Directors and although based in the UK I work the summer season in Cyprus (plug forwww.pwmarinedivers.com ) so had plenty of options of different course directors and decided to opt to fly to Koh Samui to do my course. There are already good reviews of Camille’s courses online and after speaking to him several times on the phone and him answering all my questions I decided I would do my course there which I’m happy to say I passed.
Hopefully in 2008 I shall be back to do my Staff Instructor course with him.

Nienke Rakhorst, Nederland, #981353, September 2007 IDC
Camille, Thank you so much for the last two months. I came to you as a divemaster, and I have now left feeling very confident in my instructor abilities. I enjoyed the IDC greatly and had a great time doing my MSDT on Koh Tao. The people that I worked with were lovely and I have memories that will surely last me a lifetime.
On a more personal note, thank you for all the things you did that were above and beyond what I had expected of a course director. When I was ill, you were incredibly supportive and both my family and I will always be grateful. I felt very welcome within your family and as you know, I was never worried when asking you a MILLION questions.
I wish you every success in the future, and you never know, you may make an IDC Staff Instructor out of me yet!
All the best
Laura Hawkhead, UK, July 2007 IDC
When you go through your IDC in preparation for the Instructor Exams, it is most important your Course Director will guide you on upgrading your skills, knowledge and attitude. Surely Camille Lemmens is the man who can help you identifying your weak spots. Profiting from his clear, personal and constructive guidance I was able to pass the IE with high scores.
Ton Mandemaker, Nederland, May 2007 IDC
I’m a great believer in the value of customer feedback. So having just got my 25 certs to finish the whole program, and as a paying customer of SIDS/Planet Scuba - I thought I’d let you know my views – including some observations and recommendations for you to think about to help future MSDT students you train.
Overall it is an excellent concept and I’ve gained huge benefits from working along side experienced instructors over the last five weeks. It’s an excellent transition from passing the IE to working in the real world. By shadowing other instructors and seeing how they teach, it built my confidence allowing me to bring my own elements to how I teach and then “cherry picking” elements from each of the instructors I worked with.
Planet Scuba on Koh Tao was a great place to do this. All staff – from instructors, through to the Thai boys were friendly and helpful. There’s a good community vibe here, that makes it fun for staff and students alike. Whilst I’ve been on Koh Tao I haven’t seen another dive shop where I would have wanted to do my internship.
Having said that, I have a couple of recommendations that would have made life easier. Being new to Koh Tao I was unfamiliar with the dive sites. It would have helped with the OW dives to be given laminated maps when I arrived, or even some orientation dives on the main sites, with these maps before starting on courses. Obviously this would have extended the time to get the 25 certs by a few days but it would have been worth it in terms of later confidence to lead the OW dives.
I found the IDC excellent. Professional but FUN!!! Well taught, good materials, good classroom – and great lunches!
So thanks to everyone – in particular Camille, Toby, D-Mo, Ian and Bob. I’ve learned a hell of a lot from you all which I know will set me up for the future, whatever that holds!!!
Paul Cooper, UK, OWSI, May 2007 IDC
Knowing that the Instructor Exam would require vast amounts of knowledge, we had begun preparing for the IDC already but we also knew much of what needed to be learned would not come from books or manuals. We needed to participate in an IDC. After many hours of research on different IDC courses, Camille became our first choice, and came highly recommended by our local dive shop.
Camille made our communications easy by way of email, and even though we were living half way around the world there was never more than a day between sending and receiving emails, and many times a reply was received in less than eight hours. We never needed to talk by phone, but that was something we felt would happen if we had asked for a call from him.
After making all the arrangements we could in advance, we finally arrived at the Koh Samui airport and were greeted by Camille. He provided us a warm welcome and transportation to a hotel for the night that he arranged in advance for us. The following morning, we met again with Camille where he provided us with an island orientation drive and then helped us secure long-term accommodations, transportation, and he even helped us with locating the items we needed to purchase for our stay.
After only a couple of days to settle in (we would encourage several days to overcome jet lag) we attended the pre-IDC refresher course that Camille offers. This was a wonderful way to get wet in our new "home" and get back in the swing of what we needed to remember to pass the IE. It was at this time that we discovered a simple equipment malfunction, and again Camille came to the rescue with a loaner SPG.
During the rest of the course, we found that anything that we didn't understand or had questions on always received extra attention from Camille, provided we asked for the help. Never once did we feel rushed or pushed to get through the material. If we needed help, Camille did what was required for us to learn what we needed to know.
At the end of the IDC, Camille sat down with each of us one last time to discuss with us our personal weaknesses and strengths, and a final summary on if we should take the IE, or wait for the next one and repeat the IDC. In both of our cases, we were prepared in his opinion. As he had a vested interest in seeing us pass the IE, we both know that he would have told us we were not ready if that had been the case.
After traveling to Koh Tao for the IE, the exam was just as it was described to us. The first day was straight forward and a relief to get behind us. The second day was smooth enough. The third, and final, day was the longest but we knew that we were so close to the end. Finally, we got the results that we passed, and the burden was lifted from our shoulders.
Camille was there to celebrate with us immediately following the IE and again a few nights later when we met for a formal meal to celebrate our accomplishments.
Even now, after several months, Camille has continued to be there for us to provide insight and advice when requested. These are all special touches that make Camille's program one worth considering, and we would certainly say we are satisfied customers.

My name is Rob Doughty and I am from the UK.
Since 1995 I have been a PADI diver and since 2003 Divemaster. It was my intention to do my IDC soon after completing my Divemaster training in 03 but a nasty accident at work scaffolding in mid 2003 (I nearly chopped my leg off just below the knee) put paid to that so had to wait till Nov 2006 until I was fit enough to do the IDC.
I consider myself VERY lucky because I choose to come to Samui & receive my IDC training from Camille Lemmens. My first day on my IDC prep I thought "Oh dear Rob how unprepared can you be to start an IDC" I can tell you not much more than me anyway.
Over the next 2 weeks Camille took me from my state of near panic "what have I let myself in for here" to my IE exam weekend & we had a lot fun along the way.
Well, I passed my IE on that weekend & in my view this was all down to Camille & his methods of teaching & coaching both in the classroom & in the water. Camille is a PADI Professional with a capital P.
I am proof if you choose Camille as your IDC Course Director & arrive with a dedication to become OWSI, Camille will teach you the abilities, knowledge & skill needed to be successful on your IE. And make you laugh along the way.
One month ago I was a Divemaster questioning my own ability to succeed in the IE now I am an OWSI, EFRI, DAN O2 Instructor & well on my way to MSDT, in 9 specialties.
I owe & BIG thanks to Camille he is definitely on my Christmas card list for keeps.
Rob Doughty, UK, November 2006 IDC
An excellent instructor, and one I would definitely hope to do business with again in the future.
Dave Webb, UK, August 2006 IDC
I took my Instructor Development Course in August 06 with Camille.
He is a very patient and encouraging coach. Camille will not only see that you get through your Instructor Development Course with ease, but he is also concerned about your general affairs and if you need a listening ear or someone to have a chat with, he can be a friend and be there for you too.
There had been a number of fun parties during the course as well. Courses with Camille are not all about exams and presentations. He also understands that it is stressful and that the downtime is important. Best of all, he joins the group and sometimes, it can be funny...
In a nut shell, good coach and mentor.
Jack Yang, Singapore, OWSI #485662, August 2006 IDC
From the first e-mail that I sent to Camille I found him to be prompt, informative and highly professional with all his replies that he sent to me.
During my course Camille made the whole experience as fun and as stress free as an IDC can be.
I have no hesitation in recommending Camille to anyone considering doing their IDC.
John Leca, MSDT, UK, August 2006 IDC
I took my Instructor Development Course in June of 2006 and had a great time. Camille made the course as much fun as possible and this only added to the experience.
By the time of the IE, I was satisfied that Camille had given me all of the necessary information for me to pass. This I duly did, even though I did get a bit upset for having to retake my physics exam; and maybe I took it out on him. That aside I was confident that if I was to fail it would have been of my own doing and not what I had been taught.
I will always be greatful to him for his teachings and if I ever thought of doing my IDC Staff Instructor Course, I'd know where to look.
Stuart Reeve, UK, June 2006 IDC
My name is Erik Flensted, I am from Denmark and I am a PADI instructor OWSI- 487828
I participated in the Instructor Development Course with Course Director Camille Lemmens in May 2006.
The reason I chose to do my IDC with Camille in the first place was that he was the only CD I contacted who gave me personal answers to all of my questions I had before actually signing up for the IDC.
Once I got to Samui, Camille picked me up at the airport and showed me a nice and not so expensive place to rent while I did my IDC. During the Instructor Development Course I was not so strong with the different rescue scenarios, so Camille stayed longer untill he was certain that I was capable enough to pass at the IE.
Camille also went with us to Koh Tao where we did the IE, it was very reasuring to have him around, just in case we had any last minute questions etc. Once I finished my IDC, Camille helped me find a job as an instructor, which I am also very gratefull for.
So all in all I can only give Camille my very best recommendations to anyone who considers doing their IDC in Thailand or anywhere else for that matter.
Erik Flensted, Denmark, OWSI 487828, May 2006 IDC
Hi all, my name is Tony. I'm a PADI OWSI and GUE diver.
Although I did my IDC with Camille many years ago, I have never forgotten Camilles enthusiasm and professional approach towards diver training. Camille is able to personalise the training to every candidates needs and will go that extra bit whatever you need help with. I'm still thankful that I did my IDC with Camille and made it through the IE without any trouble at all.
Recently we ran into each other in Khao Lak were he was conducting another IDC and had a great evening catching up on our life stories.
After my IE I worked as an Instructor on Koh Samui and Koh Lipe and eventually became partner in a dive centre. During my IDC Camille always emphasised the importance of adhering to standards and procedures. This gave me a solid foundation in how to approach teaching and running my own dive operation.
After many years in Thailand working as an instructor I decided to explore some other parts of Asia together with my partner, who is also an instructor.
As an instructor and active diver I have been fortunate enough to visit and work in some of the most amazing dive locations in Asia, including Borneo, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Maldives. I feel this would not have been possible had I not become involved in the dive industry.
My resent position was running and managing a dive centre on Maldives with my partner. The Maldives was always a place I'd wanted to visit as a diver but was unfortunately beyond my budget, as it is for most divers. So to work and dive in the Maldives was a truly amazing experience.
Thanks again Camille for your passionate approach to training and believing in my abilities more than I did. It paid off. : o)
Hope to catch up with you again soon.
Kind regards and best wishes. Tony > <)))))*>

I had previously been taught to dive by another organisation, my crossover to PADI to become an instructor was greatly helped by Camille. He guided me through the IDC and gave me the confidence to complete the IE. Needless to say I gained the OWSI grade on my first attempt. His knowledge of Samui is also valuable and helped me settle there for my time. I have since returned to Samui and have been teaching full time for over a year now. It definately changed my life.
Steve Durber, UK, April 2005 IDC
I did my IDC with Camille after working as a Divemaster for almost a year. I found Camille to be professional, friendly and full of enthusiasm for not only thoroughly preparing me for the Instructor Examination but also for producing good Instructors.
Of course you have to be open to learning and willing to put in some work yourself, but Camille did an excellent job of imparting both the knowledge and skills that would become my tools as a Professional Diving Instructor.
Because I was working, I had no time to prepare prior to the Instructor Development Course, so for me the IDC was quite intense. However, after the thorough training I received from Camille, I found passing the IE to be a breeze! - The way it should be if you have a Course Director who knows what he's doing!
I began diving only in Feb 2004, Open Water through to Divemaster by the end of April 2004. My head instructor was Michael Kerr. Michael did an excellent job in turning me into a good diver and then, with solid training and experience, into a dive professional. Michael was also trained by Camille (See Michael's 2003 testimonial on this page).
I now work as a freelance dive instructor and have built up a good reputation on the west coast of Thailand, as I had done previously on the east coast. I owe a lot to Camille and Michael. I hope that by successfully earning a living, doing a job that I love, and by producing good, safe divers that I am repaying them.
Vincent Moy (OWSI #480516), UK, February 2005 IDC
Camille Lemmens was extremely good as a Course Director, very professional, attention to a lot of detail, lots of tips from his own extensive experience, patient with slow students, impressive background knowledge & deep technical explanations when asked for.
Role model dive professional for me.
Robin Blokker, Nederland, February 2005 IDC
I have been lucky enough to have sat in on two of Camille's IDCs. I completed my IDC Staff course with Camille in 2004, and Camille was kind enough to then let me staff an IDC with him, further helping me with my presentation and scoring techniques. During this time Camille was encouraging and always available to help or advise.
Camille is a very experienced Course Director / Instructor, and this shows in his presentations. The classroom time with Camille was always informative, yet still entertaining. Camille knows the PADI system inside out, and knows how to help YOU get through your IDC.
Richard Reardon, UK, IDCS, November 2004 IDC, Koh Samui, Thailand, Richard is now a PADI Course Director
2017; I did my idc with him in 2004... can not say anything but good things....professional idc.... tks camille... all these yrs later.... still love teaching

My PADI IDC was one of my best professional experiences. I’ve always wanted to become a scuba diving instructor. And then in November 2004 I could make my dream come true.
My first “chat” with Camille was by email. Already I could feel how professional, patient and nice he could be. He answered very quickly to my emails, reassuring me. I had never been in a PADI course before since I come from the French scuba diving organisation so I had a lot of questions.
The IDC was very intensive and challenging. Camille again was very patient, pedagogue, encouraging me when I needed it or pressuring a little when I wanted to let it go.
I didn’t think I could do it but I was well prepared by Camille, I passed and now I can live my dream by teaching scuba diving courses. So Camille, merci!
Audrey Josserand, France, OWSI # 634333, October 2004 IDC
I would like to thank Camille Lemmens for his inspiration in encouraging me to complete my IE after a recent motorbike accident. Without the inspiration and encouragement from Camille and his staff I might never have gotten through the IE.
I will never forget this experience and will carry this kind of PADI spirit with me when I teach the world to dive!
Anthony Haw-Chu Shiau, Taiwan, August IDC 2004

'Camille nurtured my enthusiasm in the PADI system of diver education. He was always willing to provide coaching and advice during my preparation, IDC and prior to my Instructor Exam. I found the lecture and practical sessions informal, fun and friendly and feel I couldn't have been better prepared for the future. I would like to personally thanks Camille for his efforts.'

My Name is Mr Andrew M Twigg PADI (OWSI 636698)
As part of my end of service in the British Army I chose to resettle into civilian life by attending the PADI Instructor Development Course and become a PADI Diving Instructor.
Having served as a Military Diver for 22 years I thought this would be a breeze! After all; ‘the underwater experience that I have logged, this will be a walk in the park’! And I get to be a student in Koh Samui, a beautiful Island in Thailand, plus the Army pays for it! Now how good is that?
Camille, (Course Director) was beyond doubt a truly outstanding professional. From my initial email asking about the course to him seeing me to the airport with my certificates in my hand. His energy and enthusiasm throughout the course were infectious, and these are rare qualities. So impressed with these qualities I decided to extend my OWSI Course and become a Specialty Instructor in 11 Different specialties! Plus phoned my girlfriend and told her to ‘get on a plane with your diving gear, you are going to be an MSDT!’ Which she did and now has the certification!
I learnt so much from Camille beyond my 22 years as a Military Diver, which was a shock.
I fully endorse the experience of attending an IDC with Camille and if you get the chance ask him to take you on some Specialty Courses. Small Groups / Individual instruction were a complete pleasure and the knowledge, priceless!
Andrew M. Twigg, UK, PADI (OWSI 636698), February 2004 IDC
Hi I'm Shane Furze PADI MSDT (479555) and I completed my IDC with Camille in 2004 which was an excellent learning, dive tuning and confidence building two weeks.
After being a bit apprehensive of starting the course I was completely put at ease by Camille's teaching abilities and years of experience in the dive industry which he is able to draw on and pass on to you and by doing so you are learning the real thing.
Camille wants you to become a brilliant instructor, after you pass your IE, you will not only become a dive professional and a ambassador for PADI but also proof of how good a teacher he is. After completing my IE, I went on to get nine specialities with Camille which was a unique experience and completed an internship to gain the MSDT rating.
I work in the superyacht industry as an engineer but since gaining my instructor licence I now also have the pleasure of taking our guests and crew diving around the world. Shane Furze, chief engineer, S/Y Vent D'Est

I am Julia from Germany and did my IDC with Camille in Feb. 04.
I was living in Bangkok at that time, so Koh Samui was a very convenient choice in the beginning. However, it turned out to be a very good one as well. The IDC with Camille was, despite hard work and long evenings
learning, lots of fun. It was very clear that he knows what he is doing and he does it with passion and a very professional approach. Before I came to Thailand in 2001 I had become a Rescue Diver in the UK and never wanted to go any further. I am glad though that I changed my mind and became an
instructor as it was a great experience thanks to Camille. After my IDC I also completed several instructor specialty courses with him.
The fact that I am not teaching at the moment (and not even diving, mind you) has certainly nothing to do with Camille but with being back in Germany and not being tempted too much by cold water, quarries and lakes with nil viz. I guess I am spoilt :-).
Julia Zimmermann (OWSI 474641), Germany, February 2004 IDC
Julia Zimmermann (OWSI 474641), Februar 2004 IDC
I attended one of Camille Lemmens´ Instructor Development Courses in October 2003 and from the start you could tell he knew his stuff with very good demonstrations of how to teach and he was never stumped when asked a question.
I had known Camille through my job as boatmaster with Samui International Diving School and had seen how he had a very good raport with the previous few IDC groups before I decided to attempt the course myself. Our course was no different and although Camille knew a few of us candidates he showed no favouritism and treated everyone with the same courtesy, respect and humour (although I did try to wind him up he always came back with a witty reply then back to business).
We all passed the IE and celebrated with a great party at which Camille was bumping and grinding on the dance floor with the best of them.
Since the Instructor Development Course I worked freelance and with a dive school in Koh Samui, have married the gorgeous Debbie, one of my fellow candidates, together we ran a dive resort on one of the atolls off Belize and today (Dec 2006) we paid the deposit on our own dive business in Puerto Morelos, just south of Cancun, Mexico.
Thanks Camille we couldn´t have done it without you mate.
Donald Bertram, Scotland, PADI MSDT 476902, November 2003 IDC
After completing my Degree, I had a serious urge to do something different.
At this stage, I was an Advanced Open Water diver, and decided that I would like to become an instructor.
However, when I then tried to find out how I could do this, I found it frustrating to make contact with any individuals or dive schools who could actually provide me with the info I required. When I first made contact with Camille, I was so relieved and impressed, because Camille always answered all my questions promptly, and was always willing to help.
Not only did I find that Camille was a wealth of knowledge in terms of all my diving questions, but he was also able to provide me with all the info that I needed so that I could prepare myself for an extended stay in Thailand.
I must commend Camille on being an awesome mentor to me in my training. Apart from making all the training fun and highly enjoyable, Camille also places great value on following correct methodology as well as a high emphasis on Safety.
I would highly recommend Camille to anyone who considers doing their IDC training!
Rowan Rawlinson, South Africa, November 2003 IDC
Taking your IDC can be a stressful time, especially for someone like myself, over 40 and long time since I last sat in a class room and took an exam. Camille’s professional and thorough approach together with his friendly and easy going manner made me feel at ease from day one. Camille has been in the dive industry a long time and it was obvious from the start of the course that he knew what it would take to get me through first time. And I did pass first time so all thanks to Camille and I would recommend his IDC to anyone.
Adam Preston, London, UK and Koh Samui, Thailand, August 2003 IDC
Gerben Post, Nederland, IDCS, Juni 2003 IDC
I was a Candidate on Camille’s first ever IDC back in April 2003.
His method of teaching is to gradually build you up over 2 weeks, so that by the time it comes to your Instructor Examination, you feel as confident as possible about demonstrating skills, passing your exams, classroom presentations, and everything else that you need to pass your I.E. !
Camille has a great passion for teaching you, to become an excellent Instructor. But more importantly for me, he has a fantastic knowledge of the business of diving.
Camille has passed a wealth of his experience and knowledge onto me, and as a result I have worked for Samui International Diving School full time since passing my IDC almost 4 years ago!
I am currently working as The Office Manager of our Malibu Head Office here on Koh Samui.
If you would like to see how successful Camille’s IDC’s can be for you, please feel free to pop in to see me at our Malibu Shop,

Hello, my name is Sabrina,
I decided to do my IDCS-Staff course with Camille in 2003.
After two years of teaching experience, I thought it was time to go the next step.
I chose Camille to be my Course Director, I knew him personally and knew the way he teaches his courses, and this was very important to me as his inspiration led me to sign up in the first place.
As an IDCS candidate you see the Instructor Development Course in a different way, you learn to improve your skills and knowledge to the maximum.
Thinking about it, I shouldn’t have waited two years, but do it much sooner!
To see how Camille took care of his candidates on arrival, by helping them find accommodation and prepared them before the course started was impressing ( the prep course wasn’t even an “option” in my IDC) Camille has an excellent way of teaching the Instructor Development Course and of getting you to understand thing by example, should you still have a problem with something he will take you to the side and work it out.
In fact I think he is a walking book of knowledge as he always seems to have the answer to all questions. (-:
But don’t think that because of his professionalism he can not make the lessons fun!
He will crack one of his jokes when you least expect it!
He has influenced my ways of teaching to the positive, I learned to improve my techniques….especially in the Dive Master course.
The experience I gained in this course opened my eyes even to the things I forgotten and standards that had changed since I did my IDC.
Over all to have completed this program helped me in many ways especially in the diving business , now I earn more money never have a problem finding a job plus I get to teach all the Dive Master courses!!
The diving centers will give you more responsibility and will more likely offer an important position like Manager to you!
So all in all if you are planning to do your Idc do it with Camille, he is the best there is.
And if you are already an instructor sign up for your IDCS–Staff course, you will know what I am talking about once you have done it!!!
Sabrina Kretschmann, Germany, IDC-Staff 208246, April 2003 IDC
